This building used to be owned by Skyline but was sold to Rose and thistle Group and is now being demolished to be replaced with 31 and 34 story condos.

It's not where it goes, it's where it can lead you to.

Is it worth the trip? I've driven by a few times, but haven't actually stopped.

The roof was pretty cool. Great view. Each floor didn't have anything in it. Totally empty. There's a parking garage but it didn't seem too interesting. I didn't really check though. Not sure if there's a basement. Overall I would say it's worth for the view from the roof. Careful though. There's a condo right beside where you can be very easily seen.

With all of the interiors stripped, all floors will be identical; a slab of concrete surrounding a core with three elevators. There are two staircases that criss-cross all the way down from the 10th floor to the basement, which isn't really a basement, but more of a partial floor which covers roughly 1/2 of the building footprint that happens to be mostly below grade. When the building was occupied, it housed a large cafeteria and a print/copy shop. The other half of the basement floor is the single level parking garage and a two-bay loading dock.

The main lobby was on the south side of the building and was two stories tall. The building was all office space from the rear (north) side of the ground floor, up to the 9th floor. Previous tenants included The Easter Seals Society and administrative offices for many Ontario sporting organizations like Hockey Ontario, Tennis Ontario, Basketball Ontario, etc.

The 10th floor is where all of the building's mechanical systems were. Looking at the outside of the building, the concrete 'wall' that comes down from roof level to the top open floor is actually the 10th floor which had no windows. The main mechanical room housed two small chillers and two fans - one that fed the building interior zone, the other that fed the induction units around the windows. Adjacent the chiller room was a boiler room that held four small (fit in the back of a full sized pick-up small) gas fired hot water boilers which heated the building through the induction units in the winter.

At the top of one of the two stairwells was another door that led up to the elevator machine room. The elevators were upgraded to full solid state control around 2004 or so. Prior to that they were controlled by a wall of clacking relays.

To access the roof, you had to go through a small room that held the natural gas-powered emergency generator which led out to a 'pit' in the middle of the roof where the cooling tower was. To get up on the actual roof, if memory serves, there was a permanent ladder inside that cooling tower area.

Do you know if the demolishing has started.

It's pretty much all gone. Not work it anymore.

This needs to be torn down and replaced with another generic building with an all glass exterior. Toronto need more condos.
