Richmond, VA: Anyone want to go exploring with me?

I'm doing a graphic project that requires me to collect data and photographs about hundreds of abandoned buildings in the Richmond area. So I'm going to be out scouting around every night for the next week or two.

I'd be glad to have company on these outings (or any tips you have). I'll be going neighborhood by neighborhood in a methodical way. Should be fun.

If you can get permission of the owner on any of the properties I would most assuredly come. Otherwise, that's a long drive to potentially get caught.

Sorry - Not really answering your question, but along the same lines... Just like the fishing, it was better yesterday. Downtown used to have some great locations, but most have been developed or are in the process of being developed. There are still a few locations still available, and to tell you the truth, you are better off asking permission from the general contractor than trying to sneak in. I have met with much success trying that option, as the amateur photographer/VCU art student line seems to work 90% of the time. Yeah, it may not be as fun, but you always have the other 10%. There are many abandoned houses within easy walking distance of the city, but I wouldn't recommend hitting those alone or even in a small group. (Even the Richmond PD waits for backup before entering one of those.) Try Google and follow the James River south. There's lots to explore if you know where to look.

Thanks for the advice. I still think there's a lot of places, since I don't freak out in the bad neighborhoods (not enough fear, maybe.)

I'm organizing a group for both this Sunday and sometime this weekend, anyone who wants to join PM me. We'll do some of the neighborhoods in my project and some places that look bigger and more fun.
