FT. HOWARD, Md. - Baltimore County firefighters responded to a one-alarm fire that ignited inside the old Ft. Howard VA Hospital on North Point Road on Monday morning.

Fire crews found flames and smoke pouring out of the lobby of the hospital.

The fire started a little before 7:30am Monday and was out by 8:00 am.

The fire caused had no injuries or transports. The Baltimore County Fire Department has sent investigators to the scene and does not know how much damaged has been caused.

The hospital closed nine years ago. The VA still owns the majority of the property but has only an outpatient clinic that it has run since 2000.

Because they hate freedom.

Because people (in general or 'in a pack') suck something fierce.

Late notice on this topic, but I went here like a day or 2 after the fire. I didn't even know there was a fire the day before until I walked in and smelled smoke. It slightly concerned me so I walked towards where I smelled it, it was down in the administration hall and by the main enterance inside. The entire first floor by it was completely charred and there was a fresh smell of smoke in the air. I would post photos of it but I didn't take any that time that I went which was really stupid of me!

Unburnt!

I was hoping someone would have an unburnt image. Luckily it was just the main lobby, the other parts of the building are perfectly fine from the fire, with the exception of a little bit of smoke spots in some spots. It still smells like fire though. Kind of reminds me of silent hill. Unfortunately the lobby was the best looking area, with the seal on the floor and front desk.

Actually looks cooler burnt. anyways. it only affected the small part of the lobby and didnt seem to tighten security at all. so it could of been a lot worse.

It's still in tact, was just the lobby like FilthCity said. Only other damage was smoke damage to a few of the walls in other parts of the building. Still smells like freshly burnt wood as of last week.

I guess at least they burned the concrete building and not one of the old wooden houses down.

There has been several arrests there over the past couple months because scrappers kept cutting live wires that goto the outpatient center which is still being used.

The outpatient centers phone lines were cut and they were without phones for a while. Idiots.
