Ralsof, iv never seen a plug like that either. I was hoping someone here would know what its about.

Azazel, thanks for the link. I was told the mateo was used in San Fran but I thought it could have been a rumor. What a shame. Apparently the Queen of Sidney is leaking oil and crap into the river, and fisheries knows. Its probably only a matter of time till somthing has to get done about it. I just hope it doesnt get scrapped.

It occurs to me that those plugs are probably just an appliance outlet. That makes even more sense when you look at how close to the floor they are.

Still, I took a quick look into appliance outlet standards. There's a few that use two sideways lines, but none of those standards have a circular ground hole.

So I'm not certain...

those plugs aren't sitting on the floor, they are sitting on top of a counter...

He's been trying to sell it to a chinese scrapper for years now, or so he claimed in his last interview. It's indeed leaking oil and paint like the deepwater these days, there's a huge slick around it constantly. The issue is that it's so deeply embedded in the riverbottom after 12 years that it can't be pulled free without breaking apart, and it can't be scrapped on site.

The fact that it's gotten to this state boggles my mind, it would have been worth an easy $2M in scrap value for the hull and fittings, with another $500K-$1M in the engine works. Hell, could have sold it as a ferry or work camp like they are with the Queen of Vancouver, it was in perfect working order when it was retired. I simply can't believe the idiot leaves it rusting there instead, even the lifeboats would have gone for $25-$50K each!

Other random tidbits about the Sydney:
http://www.westcoa...ic.php?f=11&t=4420 She's packed full of vintage cars! (now underwater, it seems).

http://www2.canada...-82da-778e4e3cfc1c The article in which the owner bemoans being saddled with a junkyard full of rotting ships.

That being said, they were supposed to have raised and scrapped the Mateo last fall under orders from the City of Mission, they even brought in a crane and everything. I'm surprised to see it's still there and relatively unchanged.

Then, clearly, these plugs are where the ALIENS plug in their evil mind probes.
