I found a thread from a year ago under US South. It is a Mid Atlantic State that is why I am asking here.

Welcome to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum located in Weston, WV. Formerly known as the Weston State Hospital, this West Virginia facility served as a sanctuary for the mentally ill in the mid-1800’s. The history of the building holds fascinating stories of Civil War raids, a gold robbery, the "curative" effects of architecture, and the efforts of determined individuals to help better the lives of the mentally ill. Tour this nationally recognized landmark and see how it left a lasting impression on local and national history. Daily heritage tours are available for both small and large groups.
Photography Tour (8/13/11 )
The photography tours allow you entry to the interiors of the Kirkbride, the Medical Center, Geriatric building, exteriors of all buildings, the cemeteries, and the grounds. These will be a semi guided tours without historic information. Check in for the photography tour is ½ hour before the start time. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Transportation will be provided to the cemeteries.
Morning Photo Tour - $100 (8:00 am to 12:00 pm)
Evening Photo Tour - $100 (2:00 pm to 6:00 pm)
Both - $150

| | | | it is indeed fully booked. 15 people allowed in for each session. as i understand it - the asylum will not be open to anyone other than those of us who have signed up for the photo tour which means we dont have to worry about having any photos with humans in them! yay!

| | | | Oh god I wish I could make it! I spent [suffered ] thru 2 years of undergrad at West Virginia Wesleyan College in nearby Buckhannon. I remember passing that place on numerous occasions. It looks creepy as hell.
