| | | Firefighters say they found evidence that people have been inside the building. Now they want to know if this fire was an act of arson. "That would be our first suspicion," said Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers. "But I won't make a call until my fire marshal tells me everything." |
Maybe its time for them to get an anonymous tip. ;)
Looking for people to explore/photograph with. PM me. |

| | | I posted this in both threads, incase you do not read one... I am passing this good news on from a Flickr friend that posted a current picture taken today of the school. He is not on this forum but wants to join.. He said that the auditorium is completely intact! Yeah! The explorer that was there when the fire broke out, was also there today. The owner asked to speak to this person.
I bet this explorer helps to clear the owners name. People in that neighborhood are saying that the owner burned his own building. I am staying away from Philly for a while! Too much excitement for this old woman. lol

| | | Posted by Passanger So we make a trip to 3 places that we have never been. This place was really neat, but after an hour, a scrapper set a fire and we had to go. Felt cheated! Two Scrapers, where they black and skinny, in there early 40's? those are the ow junkies that took all the dam windows out. We had a nice chill room on the corner of the second or third place, untill the scrappers took the windows out the weather came in! |

| | | Wow that sucks. I noticed the roof of that school (the older portion anyway) was made with huge timbers and not steel like I would have thought. Looks like it went up fast. Bastards.

Aren't old buildings usually made of wood?

| | | There are plenty of century-old abandoned factories here in Philly, even your Viscose down in Marcus Hook, that have steel/poured concrete construction. Even Byberry had it.

| | | I'm not discounting the fact that some timber was used during construction, after all, this is over a hundred years ago. I'm just pointing out that the walls and floors were constructed of brick, steel girders and concrete in the aforementioned abandonments. While about 80% of Edison is the same solid construction, the front building (the original school with the gargoyle turrets) had a wooden interior, even though the exterior is dressed church stone.
