Drive in theater building in Parma, Ohio

The first place I explored while on vacation in Cleveland was an old drive in theater called the Auto Drive-In located in Parma, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. According to my parents I have actually seen a movie here back in the day. My dad as a younger union electrician worked on this place when it was being rebuilt in the mid to late 60's and he passed along some inside info which I've shared on my Flickr page. Sadly the screen is long gone, but the main building and playground, along with rows and rows of posts where the speakers and heaters used to hang, are still around.

I've also got more pictures on my Flickr page here:

Is that the one on Memphis? That's actually Brooklyn, not Parma. (I live in Parma.) Been to a lot of movies there.

This drive in is off brookpark by tiedeman. Me and my friends actually made skateboard ramps in the building while we were in high school. Alot of the building collapsed awhile. Still worth checking out if your in the area.

Yep, thats the place. It's basically behind the old Spitzer auto dealership which is across the street from Forest City/Home Depot. I grew up in Brooklyn, and when I say in my posts I was on vacation in Cleveland, I'm actually in Brooklyn.

I don't believe that anything is left of the Memphis Drive In, American Greetings bought the property years ago and did a real job of turning it back into "green" space. When I was a kid and we went to the drive in, we usually went to the Memphis Drive In. I also checked the photos I didn't post for remnants of any old skateboard ramps in the Auto Drive-In main building, but I didn't see any. There was quite a bit of debris in some areas of the building, some of it under what was the roof...

Im so mad that I didn't look in the trash when they tore down the memphis drive in, I would have loved to get the tetter totter(or how ever you you spell it) on the chain they had. I used to love that thing and im sure it probably ended up In the trash.
