|  | | | Curious as to whether anybody in Iowa or the Midwest has explored this place. I've stumbled across several videos of people exploring it on YouTube, but haven't run into anything on here. With parents native to Burlington, it's a place I've traveled to many a time and this has always been a place that's sparked my interest, even before my days of urban exploring. The school is well over a hundred years old and of very good size. It was in use up until 2002, but has been abandoned ever since.

And a few things I know (from the videos on YouTube or otherwise):
-90 rooms
-108,000 square feet
-Huge auditorium (700 seats, multilevel, skylights)
-Basement (which supposedly housed the cafeteria?)
-Two gyms (one for boys, one for girls)
-Rooftop access

| | | | Meant to post a few weeks ago when it happened, but I was recently in the Burlington area and got to stop by here to check it out again. Same old, same old. Easy entrance(s) into the building, plenty of great to see, just don't be stupid. I know that the police and the people who neighbor this place keep an eye on it. There are frequent arrests for trespassing. Again, just don't be stupid and I don't think this will be a problem.

| | | | I'm a lurker on here but I grew up in Burlington, Iowa! I now live in NC. Was this the old high school that was used for the alternative high school for a while? Having trouble picturing where it is.
I was hoping some urban explorers in Iowa might have some old pics of places that have either been torn down now or remodeled, including:
*the old amusement park in Dankwardt Park-the ruins were there for a long time but they finally cleared it out a long time ago so these would be very old pics!
*The Burlington Hotel before it was remodeled-never got to see it then
*The old downtown theater that is currently being remodeled. I did get to go in to that and the offices next door when they held a fundraiser for renovation-cool places!
