The last 2 pictures in the second row especially blew my mind. It never ceases to amaze me how some of the places I have been in as well as the ones I've seen photos of give the impression that the owners simply walked out on the spot and left everything behind. Granted, even a large stereo may be hard to move if the person is alone and/or elderly or disabled, but even the old 8 tracks, figurines and nick nacks were left in this case!
I've seen office buildings where not only files, furniture, computers and supplies were left behind but even personal items such as coffee mugs, diplomas, pictures and even a set of golf clubs once! Hell, at one school I explored, an entire room full of unopened school books sat collecting dust just down the hall from another room loaded w/ (mostly trashed, unfortunately) computer equipment and a couple of copy machines. I just don't get it sometimes.....

It is very sad to know such a pretty home is just falling apart. I looked into this house the mans wife died in 1978 and he died in a nursing home in 1994. He was a farmer and has 2 kids that are still alive. All the things I found in the house was from 1970's. Just blew me away this big home in the middle of no where such a good find but also sad at the same time!

Nice house, I'd just move on in, no one else seems to care.

I know not what I do, but when I do it

That's a pretty sweet desk.
Was anyone else thinking "free furniture!" when looking through these pictures?

This place looks totally untouched! Not a spot of graffiti anywhere huh? Looks pretty wide open as well, how easy was entry?

There's a closed hospital in Indianapolis that pretty much had it's doors locked up with everything inside. Sometimes people or organizations could care less about places and things.

At first I couldn't believe the house was abandoned for as long as it has been, but notice the tiled roof in the first two photos. That kind of roof is very durable, and I think that is key as to why there is minimal damage to the inside of the house. It would be a whole different ballgame if the roof was leaking.

Sad it seems that after his wife died, I would imagine he didn't change a thing. Just kept things as they were. Chances are, when he passed, his kids didn't care enough about the property to do anything with it. I see it all the time. Too busy to take time out of their own lives to handle his affairs properly. Such a waste.

it looks like there's something wrapped in plastic in the tub....

Yes it was just the shower curtain in the bath tub. At first I thought a dead body was in the home due to a bad smell. But found a old freezer in the basement that had old meat in it full to the top. Just made me sick. But my fear is always I might walk in on someone dead in a home lol
