Working with what we are given...

So maybe its not a fully furnished mansion on a hill, or an old extravagant hospital with the equipment left to rot...... but hey we are still new to the game, and we are in central Cali, so this is what we get. Even those this is just a simple abandoned ranch house, with an outhouse, and a couple outer building,it was our first experience with a place left frozen in time. Pulling up to this place as a random find we were expecting an old abandoned place, with maybe some tagging and destruction in side. But when we opened the front door, to our surprise the place was as if someone just left that morning, aside from the old dust covering everything, and stale air filling the places. There were family photos on the wall, clothes in the closet, and decorations everywhere. So needless to say after so far only exploring trashed places this was new to us. Can't say there was too much exciting to take photos of, but still a nice explore to take a step back in time to the ranches prime, which there was photos of frames on the walls. Oh yeah all these were with just the little point and shoot camera, we did not have a good one for this trip so be gentle.

Just couldn't get the angle on this door I wanted, but liked it because it was like me, slightly warped.

Actually, everyone has different tastes.. But I love abandoned houses, apartments, etc. The radio and old school fire place is pretty bad ass. Can't believe it hasn't been vandalized and scrapped.

Good find man.

As someone who's been to mansion(s)/Castles on a hill AND old extravagant hospitals with the equipment left to rot(WITH killer dogs with bees shooting from their mouths)-

I think this set is great. I think the location is neat too. It looks like the desert. I hate the desert. -But when I look at your pictures I hear shitty sad country music and I'm inspired, wanting to know more of the story your telling with your photos.

I see a lot there, almost enough, for me to ask where this is so I can get my own shots, my own story.

And holy shit, look at that, NO tagging! NO graffiti! I don't know what's more rare now, the frozen in time status or the fact that it's "spot" free.

"Be gentle cause we only had a point and shoot."

I think a lot of the pictures you chose to post here are good. I think there were a few in the link that you should have posted in their place. It looks like your having fun so who cares anyway? I liked a lot of them.

I like number two the most. I'd go there and take that shot again, but at night, under a full moon. I'd light paint the hell out of that building and the tree in front of it.

I hate the desert.
-Unless I'm shooting out there at night, then it's a really neat place.

PS
If you have a desire to explore hospitals, at least the old Kirkbrides, you better get on that quick before it's too late!

I love locations that still have goodies to look at. & no vandalism either? Sweet find.

The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

This is more than likely a highly-used place. Lots of things like this around the Death Valley area. Regulars who may hike/camp/etc in the area probably maintain this place as best they can when they're around. I love places like this! It's like from a storybook where you're tired, hungry, and have no shelter and then you crest a hill and see this place in the distance. Eureka!

You mentioned Central CA...whereabouts? I know us SoCal people often consider anything above Los Angeles to be "NorCal." Haha! =P My dad lives in Pope Valley, NE of Napa. Is this anywhere near there?

This place is actually nowhere near death valley, but it would definitely make a good spot for hikers or camps to set up an overnight stay. Unfortunately this is located on 100's of acres of private land that really has no reason or interest for hikers. I did some research and you can own this place for a small some of 1.4 million lol. I guess the land is worth it.

And Central CA in my terms is Kern County Area. But its funny you say you consider anything above LA Nor Cal, because we make fun of all the people around here that wear the SO Cal gear and have the decals plastered on their car. But its okay, I refer to anything between the grape vine and San Diego as being LA. =)

LOL! Yeah, the people with those silly "*So-Cal*" stickers with the nautical stars are known as "909'ers" around here. They often also have the following stickers on their pickups: Metal Mulisha, Monster, Freshgear, Tapout, Hitman, Glamis, the "shocker" fingers, and other equally stupid crap. They are about as "Arkansas" as you can get without leaving CA. LOL! ;)
