Wow, I always thought the South was sort of genteel. This had a flavor of the Northeast board for a sec! Whoever this was, peace brother.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

Well after all Jonsered he is, the most interesting man from the northeast Im sure

Not just any garden variety twerp, but the intellect entitlement board seemed to have failed to make a note of his new address or something

(he even went and researched my profile page thing looking for something to use for a brilliant comeback does this mean he wont be sending me any membership money?)

he fell and camera landed on hiss gut saving the camera. they later uploaded it and realized he was a photographer until the end.

I hope they can pry the flash card from my cold dead hands if I buy it someday while carrying a camera

I'm just glad your moderation is limited to US South.

My "moderation" isn't limited to the south. I can follow you all over UER if you want to spend some more quality time together.

I can see how the poor guy got killed. I've misjudged, misstepped, hit my head, trusted things I shouldn't have. Thank God my results were different.

I'm actually more aware if people are around, I'll try to watch out for their safety. That actually helps me be more careful.

I know I was in the moment of "oh my gosh, it might be one of us" then I saw his post...

What if his girlfriend of friend was on the forums to announce his RIP, then read that? Its like hes trolling them. I have no patience for that kind of mentality...

I saw a breathing lump under a blanket, what could it be? - 1 hobo - 2 dwarf hobos - 8 racoons - 443 rats - 896 mice or 11 rat kings?

It could happen to any of us. If you didn't read what cr400 and 2Xplorations posted above, you should. Even the most careful among us, and I like to think I am very safety conscious, could have something like this happen. Lets all be careful.

RIP for this guy, and thoughts and prayers for his family. The older I get the more aware of this stuff I become. And now that I'm a parent of a little turd who loves to explore, it scares the hell out of me to think about something like this happening to him. Can you imagine the pain his family is going through?

I was there with him. His name was Gary and I worked with him at Across the street bar. I have been up there to chill so many times. It was a tragic accident. Seeing this to day before I go to my friends funeral helps so much. Knowing that this will help people be more careful means a lot to me. I went from having such a good night to loosing one of the best friends anyone could ever have. Funeral today at 2 p.m. at eastgate funeral home in garland. R.I.P. Gary Ray Gribble.

So sorry about your buddy, it looks like he knew how to have a good time, looks like he loved his dogs too.

Knowing how to love and being loved, enjoying life, that's really all we can do.

Sucks bad that his life was cut short, but it seems like he enjoyed it while he was here.

I for one will always think of him as I explore with family and friends. And I didn't even know him.......He'll make me a safer person. Thanks Gary. RIP

Agreed. Even though I didn't know him, this will be something I'll remember for a long time, just like a couple of other incidents that have happened since I got into this hobby. I think this tragedy will make a lot of us be more careful and think about what can happen so quickly.

I too am sorry for the loss of your friend. I can only imagine how distressing this would have to be for those of you who were there, to have to live through this and witness the death of a friend. I would venture to say that you have the support of the UER community here in the Dallas area, and I'm sure there are plenty of fellow explorers who would step in to do anything they can to help you deal with this.

I also thank you for your post, because it very clearly and very intensely illuminates what many of us have been talking about in this thread. That we always need to be aware that what we say or do, no matter how innocent the intent, may have the potential to be very hurtful to someone. Nuff said about that.

Rest In Peace Fellow Explorer.

Hopefully not too bleak, but on the upside, maybe his accident will make all of the rest of us be much more careful, therefore preventing other accidents from occuring. He could have just saved dozens of lives and not have known it...

I said the same thing in a post last month in regards to a couple of kids that fell into a cesspool, safety is the most important thing.

I didn't hear about that. What happened? Is there a link to a story about it?

Police said he fell while taking photos, falling on his head as he landed down below on a hard cement surface. [/i]

Unfortunately he had a death grip on the wrong thing, his camera rather then his handhold.
Mr. C. Darwin loved the images and approves.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

Hey maybe if one of his friends ever buys it, someone will make some tasteless or moronic joke about them...

...assuming of course he has any friends

Humor has been an accepted response to death since Christ was a Corporal...

And so when man and horse go down
Beneath a saber keen,
Or in a roaring charge of fierce melee You stop a bullet clean, And the hostiles come to get your scalp, Just empty your canteen, And put your pistol to your head And go to Fiddlers' Green.
