I don't care whether Mike stole it or not. My feelings on stealing are well-enough known. But if he did take things, he took them from a place that was about to be demolished. There are so many members here that take souvenirs, whether the site is going to be demolished or not. They stole, and maybe Mike stole. Nobody seems to care around here when someone takes souvenirs. Nobody seems to think it's their business.
But because he decided to sell some of that stuff after he took it, some of you think that makes it okay to rat him out to the cops? That stuff was going to be destroyed by the end of the year. Instead, Mike's got a few bucks, and a few things THAT WERE GOING TO BE DESTROYED are now owned by people. Therefore, he was hurting no one.
And if he's hurting no one, IT'S NONE OF YOUR GODDAMN BUSINESS!

I agree.
This stuff was going to rot away there and be destroyed. Now it's in the possession of someone who actually wants it and appreciates it.
I haven't taken anything from any sites, but that's only because i've never come across anything worth the effort of taking home.
I see nothing wrong with, for example, CT taking letterheads or people grabbing an item from some place that's being demolished. I have talked to a LOT of people on this site who feel the exact same way, but are too afraid to say it because they know they'll get shit from everyone else for admitting it.

one argument people have is "OMG WHO WOULD BE SELFISH ENOUGH TO BUY THESE THINGS?"
despite the fact that dijital sees profit (250$ is a drop in the bucket, c'mon people) ever think these items might be going to a better place rather then ending up in a pile of rubble? things attached to danvers might have sentimental value towards some, namely former guards / patients / historians.
don't think all of those people just dissapeared, i get emails all the time from former workers at hospitals / relatives of patients who thank me for reminding them of a place in history where people spent a good amount of their lives. maybe they want a piece of it back.

Yea, I jumped the gun a bit this morning on pronouncing Mike guilty [I retract that BTW], but never did I agree with your decision to turn the poor guy in.
Whoever disagreed with the usage of the word "witchhunt" is way off the mark. This WAS a witchhunt, look at the thread! People wanted MD's head on a pike with no proof of any wrongdoing. Sure, it looks extremely bad - but how can we possibly know the full story?

When I saw Av's post, I was like "Shit, mike, why do this?" which is reasonable seeings its a little low to take something from a site and sell it. Anyway, its not really our place to judge anyone for breaking the law, when the whole concept of this community is based on trespassing, which last time I checked, is illegal. Turning an explorer in is like stabbing yourself in the hand and you should be ashamed.
And to anyone who accuses MD of 'not being and explorer' should just stfu. Until you come out to New England and explore with him, you're in no place to deem whether he is 'worthy' to be called an explorer. Get off your high horse.

There is a law in the states that protects the board operator from legally questionable material thats posted on the board from other members. I don't remember what law it was but there was a case invalving AOL a while back.

Mike. You and I have never had a problem before. And if you're not full of shit in what you say about being allowed to sell whatever, then you have nothing to worry about. If you are stealing and lying, then fuck, you deserve what you get. If you're going to do something, anything, in any facet of life, one must be prepared for the consequences...

I was there last week and saw that one of the old lights(old green hooked style like those found at the Hearn) and thought "Its going to be crushed anyways " so I took it. It currently is the light in my gun room. Some of the artifacts at the Bakelite are one-of-a-kind. THey have the Bakelite jewelery molds in boxes. They are stored in parts of the factory that are untouched by vandals. I would never dream of selling these on eBay. Thay are one-of-a-kind and I am proud to have taken them despite whatever any of you have to say. There will atleast be something left of the old decrepit factory when it comes down in July.

the keys dont even go to Danvers I bought them from a guy who does cleanouts and sells the junk, when I saw how fast my other DSH junk was selling for , i figured I could sell anything rusty and people would buy it.
As for BPM, mikey sent me a private message a few weeks ago, telling me he could get all this info on Nazi Rob, and showed me he could get info on me, he sent me a PM with all my info to show how cool he was, keep in mind I had no idea who he even was, I was so creeped out I was gonna tell Av, like that would have done any good, I could have gone to the police and said I was freaked by this creep and done it that way ,

So, not are you guilty of theft (because that is what it is), you are guilty of fraud. Not only is it mail fraud, but a couple of other federal offences too because you are selling items using the internet and mailing them.
Don't try to clean up what you have done, shift the blame, or throw the topic on to something else.
You were caught, live with it. If the police come to your house, I suggest you be honest and HOPE TO GOD they go easy on you. You, decidedly, are a piece of shit. Not only lying to this community, but to the community at large.
What I did with your personal info was because YOU asked someone in that SAME thread for Rob's info. Don't try to weasel out of what your dumb ass did. I stand by my acts, do you?

im cooler now, I did talk to a lawyer that said " after they investigate the fact that there is no real evedence that you stole this stuff. they wouldn't even has the authority to do anything. They need hard concrete proof that you stole this stuff, and your ebay Auctions make no mention that you personally retreived this stuff, Then they would need to locate all the buyers and question them. Its a rediculous amount of work for the size and particulars of this case. Also the fact that you stopped when the DCAM agency told you to,. This may have a phone call or two arriving at your house for questions but that is about it. Now if you lose you Ebay account over this, then you really have a case of Slander. "
