Fredericton drains

With the advent of June the rain here in NB has finally come to an end. That means that we (myself and the other members of the Borris Explorers) can finally get outside! This summer we'll all be rather mobile, so we're hoping to be productive, and I'll try to be keeping the forums up to date with photos. Here's a glimpse of a recent expedition into the underground.

This is a storm drain which was a stream that the city had covered over back in 2007. It's a pretty standard culvert, straight and gray. We named it Alpha.

1.) The first of the pipe is about seven feet tall with a firm layer of gravel lining the floor.

2.) As the pipe goes on the height of it decreases to about 5'.

3.) Fellow explorer R-tron bends to enter the next, shorter, segment of the pipe.

4.) In a large chamber we find a burned out candle. It was cinnamon scented.

5.) Eventually we were forced onto our hands and knees in order to press on. Hooking into the main pipe is a rats nest of smaller pipes.

6.) Finally, after three hours of crawling around, we make good our escape from the outflow.

Sometime soon we'll be going into an older, more interesting, culvert.
