| | | So, I'm starting to get more and more into photography and the frustrating thing sometimes about taking photos in some of these environments is the shitty lighting conditions. Other than speedlites, has anyone cobbled together custom super-portable lighting gear? I was thinking of making a collapsible softbox that could use a flashlight or something.

| | | Tripod, 15 - 30 second exposure, and a flashlight. Seriously, it works amazingly well and you can get some really cool lighting effects. This one was taken in a pitch-black room with a 15-second exposure and a single LED flashlight:
