| | | Posted by sUrD What I found the other night stumbling around the woods looking for something else. I apologize for the shoddy photos. It was getting REALLY late, I was tired, and not to mention it was dark, and I still had over 3 miles to walk back. An interesting discovery. Old munition storage bunker.
A closer look.
Sticking my arm inside the door for a look.

That looks amazing, I'd like to visit that sometime.

| | | The Wolverine oil company drayage barn in the ghost town of Wolco, OK. Built in 1923 to house their horse teams, the stalls were later removed and the building was used for truck storage. Time has circled back as it is now used for horses again.

That is recorded as a historic building. Also, nearby are many foundations and remnants of processing units.

I saw where it had been put up for the national register, but didn't see if was ever "official" There wasn't anybody there and I didn't just want to go walking on the guys property. I could see some of the old stuff off in the distance. I'll try and make it back out and see if the owner will let me wander around.

Thanks, my boys and I were just taking a nice stroll back on the east side of the industrial park after i got off work before it started raining. This was back between the park and the creek on the Corp land. Sweet old cemetery back in there too. Many headstones dating from late 1800's. And thanks DW, but there's no way mine holds a candle to your stuff. You've some of the best stuff around, especially with the attached history lessons.
This was the oldest one we found that we could read. Date was April 22, 1839.

| | | Remains of the bank in the faded oil boom town of Wynona, Oklahoma. Founded in 1909 as a state bank, it looks like it relocated from Mansville to Wynona, probably because of the oil boom. It converted to a national charter in 1921, becoming the First National Bank of Wynona. I can't find any record of when it failed, though probably a fair assumption it was around 1929 with the onset of the Great Depression.

| | | Continuing with our rural draining expedition..... Found this 8' poly coated CGMP after work yesterday.
So I decided to check it out and found a cool old bridge on the other side.
Looking back at the CGMP
A WPA project bridge from 1900.

Awesome shots Cajun! My contribution to rural draining and railway lore....came across this near the remains of Blackland, OK. Part of the old Midland Valley railway built in 1907.

Awesome! Love that kind of stuff. Cajun, you should post couple more of those pics. You've got some great shots of that locomotive and area. Here's another from the same area I found the CGMP and old bridge. This was the main reason I stopped.
