KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We have new information about the abandoned tuberculosis sanitarium in Kalamazoo.
The old abandoned building on Blakeslee St. is coming down.
Last night the Kalamazoo City Commission voted to demolish the building.
The city will share $2 million of federal stimulus money with Western Michigan University to pay for the demolition.
Western has owned the former psychiatric hospital in Kalamazoo since 1998, but WMU officials say they really have no use for it and it's taking money out of the school's budget.
