It has once again been sealed tighter than a nuns special area (censored for L'Ali's sake).
These hand written signs are posted all around the building, including one outside the secret P.O.E., which is no longer secret.
Whatever you do, don't go TRANSPASSING here!

"Thank you so much for this wonderful post. It was my grandmother who purchased this property in 1952 and restored it to some of its' former glory. She operated it a as a private chronic care hospital until her retirement.
As a child we had an apartment on the 3rd floor. One of the rooms shown was my bedroom. We used to take great delight in sliding down those beautiful wooden bannisters.
My grandfather, a painter by trade, had a passion for gardening so the exterior and grounds were in immaculate condition.
And as a teenager I cooked on that very stove for my part-time and summer job. Lunch and dinner for 38 patients.
I have driven by many times in the years since and it saddens me to see the decline. I hope someone cares enough to restore it. I know the cost may be prohibitive but I can't agree with those who suggest the wrecking ball is the answer... "

and for the woman who commented on your blog, what an awesome story! I had a similar reply to one of my shoots at the Valley Halla. She had replied saying that she had lived there when she was little. Remembers playing in the big garden and down in the paddock.
Great story's come from great places like these!

I don't know if you saw the thread I posted about a month ago but the place is for sale and there's also a conversion plan that's waiting approval too. If you can reply to this person, maybe they would be interested in knowing about it.

| | | | Stopped by on the weekend. Fresh paint or primer on parts of the building, even the boards over the windows were painted. Tightly sealed, even the secret entrance. Bummer. Hopefully the fresh paint indicates something is finally happening with a restoration of sorts.
Across the street, a location stands that we may be rushing to in the future. A place I called home as a teenager, Brookside Youth Centre. A government insider has informed me that discussions are taking place to possibly close the Y.O. Jail...

I can see what you mean; the high ceilings in some of the rooms and the way the walls blend in with the ceilings sort of gave me the same impression.
The shots were fantastic Jerm! Too bad about the stained glass, but the hilarious spelling errors on that sign made up for it!

It is truly a shame that this building continues to deteriorate and no signs of progress have emerged as far as saving this beautiful historic structure. The City of Cobourg is continually ordering the property owner to reseal the building and boards now cover many of the windows on all three floors. The decay has only gotten worse within these walls.
With not a lot of light creeping in, we turned the camera on each other and had some fun taking portraits.
