Detroit suggestions/advise/inside info?

Hey guys, I'm planning a trip to Detroit for Easter long weekend and I was wondering if anyone has been there recently? Any info would be great.

Must see places, tips on rougher areas, POEs welcome as private messages of course.

St-Curvy's done, right? Which car plant is most worth wild? How about the Hospital?

Thanks!

P.

I wouldn't flaunt around expensive camera gear, its not a Toronto UE meet

And when you finally disappear, We'll just say you were never here.

Am already planning minimal gear in a smaller bag. Also looking for some pepper spray, just in case ;)

Get strapped.

Seriously though, take your car keys off their ring, most things out of your wallet, and stash them somewhere.

Eat at Slow's BBQ. It is the best BBQ place ever, and it's right next to Michigan Central Terminal.

If you'd prefer locally produced food, there is a guy who kills neighborhood raccoons and sells them at a barbecue stand out front of his house. Apparantly, it's quite popular.

Edit:
Here is a video someone did on hi a while back:

pfft, Slow's.

you want REAL bbq, go to one of the many neighborhood establishments. you know, the kind with more bullet proof glass than a bank.

just follow your nose.

just be aware that when you order a "bbq sandwich", that just means they throw a couple slices of Wonderbread next to a rack of ribs lol

EDIT:
just looked at that youtube link to the coon video...jesus christ if i see that Charlie LeDouchebag fucker again ima puke. what a fuckin loser...Glemie's a good man though. you wanna read the original story that brought the "Coonman" story to the attention of copycat media clowns like LeDuff, go here:

If you want a POE for Michigan Central Terminal PM me.

Also, it's generally better to UE in Detroit in larger groups. Plan to stay close to each other just in case.

Places I would totally recommend are Lee Plaza and the Universal Theatre. Packard is pretty rubbed out these days, probably especially so after the latest Transformers movie was shot there last fall.

Generally there are so many abandoned buildings downtown that are unlocked and you can just walk into. I'd also recommend carefully locking your car, and not leaving anything of even the remotest value visible inside your car. (I speak from personal experience here)

Have a great time, I'll be heading back that way at Thanksgiving.
