Abandoned TARGET

So, there is a target by my house that had moved buildings.
the empty one they left behind has boarded up windows, all signs and such taken down, and looks like a giant building.

I was wondering the danger it would be to get inside.
I'm not sure how long they have been moved, but it looks as if it has been a while.

do they usually have cameras still up and running after they move, or is it just an empty shell waiting to be purchased.

the entire site is fenced off, easily climbable, and I'm sure the doors would be locked, but a dark, empty, giant building such as that, seems very interesting to get inside.

I will add pictures of property soon, when i get a chance (kind of out of my way)

Spend a couple of night scoping it out. See if there is a guard on duty, or perhaps showing up routinely throughout the night.

Another option to find about the alarms,is to trip the potential alarm, and then hide. Hide until they leave, if they look around and nothing seems out of place they will leave. It would take the police several minutes to respond if an alarm was tripped, so don't hide right there, go across the street or something. Watch. Observe. Plot..

That pretty much answers your question right there. If it's empty, why would it be watched? Let's say you own a business. Your business shuts down and you move all of your shit out of there. Would you still pay for security? Even though you have no stake in the property? Are you doing the landlord favors?

The danger is limited to your stupidity. I'm not saying you're stupid but it's certainly not dangerous to get a trespassing fine, unless you live in Abu Dabi or something, it is dangerous however to smash a window and slice your leg open climbing through.

Be smart, think it through, and weigh the consequences. Most of all, have fun.

If it's worth it to you to B&E to see an empty building, go ahead, I personally would take the risk on something a little more exciting. But it takes all kinds, and I know plenty of people who dig the big empties.

That's all I got for you, and I should warn you that you won't get any responses really to questions like these. None of us want to answer the same question every day, including me. Read through the forums, study. This site has been here for 7 or 8 years or something and someone has asked this question before. The information is here, you just need to look.

Be safe.

I have been in a couple of abandoned big box stores and they are not exciting. It's just a big empty room, especially if it's one that has been closed for less than a year, there won't be much, if any, decay. So for me it wouldn't be worth the risk or effort to get in there. Just my two cents.

This. It's good practice for honing your entry skills, at best.

Though there might be some interesting side rooms - like the employee break room, bathrooms, return area, and especially the shipping area around back. C'mon guys, ruling out a huge building because you think you know what's in there totally defeats the purpose of exploring ;p

The fact that you live near it makes it much easier. Just take a stroll over there and look around. If, after a few times, you're confident of a safe and subtle entry, go for it. It should be fine.

Think vertically. Every big building has roof access, and it's almost always unlocked.

thank you guys, you've all been helpful.
so yeah, i guess that is what I'll do, scope it out.

I am interested in break rooms, storage, and stuff like that.
there aren't any places by where i live (I've been looking) so I'm taking what i can get.

I was just thinking about an abandoned Lowe's by where I live, but I think that it would be too difficult to get into compared to how it would be.

Less breaking, more entering -- *tells cop we're taking pictures* "OF WUUUUT?!"

if it's a decently sized building free of all the fixtures, they can be quite interesting. I used to know a hex*mart employee who had to setup a new store, she liked how massive and empty the place was. Literally hundreds of thousands of square feet of white tiles as far as the eye could see...

Empty hex*marts are the only worthwhile part to them being spread all over the place like cheap booze...

Good luck on entry! Do what interests you, no matter what anyone says. I've got a good place in mind here, but i'm not at liberty to talk about it yet.. For the most part to people it would be "boring" but it is right up my alley.

Not everyone is into draining or playing l33t ninja, so don't feel discouraged
