Cool pics I explored a similar store way back in 1982. The building was eventually re sold only to be abandoned yet again a couple of years ago.

It is very interesting to me how the simplest places such as this are so fascinating. Like you said, can't pin what exactly it is, but it IS.

I think for me it is a bit of nostalgia and remembering all of the stores that came and went, leaving only a wal-mart and empty buildings to be demolished. I miss the old local stores a lot and I think of them whenever I see things like this.

i know what you mean, for about 10 years we had an 8 story department store sit empty in montreal. the other big one closed in 99 but was promptly redevelopped, but simpsons sat so long and was always an interesting explo
