| | | have you thought of finding ways to limit your usage? 5gb of space is alot of space for a website unless your hosting warez, maybe i just havent poked around the site enough to see where all that content is
how much is $990CDN in USD? that seems like alot! is that monthly? i have my own server and i only pay $75USD/mo . . look into it, you can do whatever you want when its your server, need more space just install another harddrive, they're cheap enough . . anyway, as soon as i get some funds in my paypal i'll zip some over to ya.

| | | $75 US a month is $120 CDN a month, more than I am paying now.
Where did you get 5GB from? I have 35gb of space on my one account, and im using about 3gb of it so far.
That's going to change soon too...

I'll just have to pay everything out of my own pocket for now

| | | Let me get this straight, you have a 35 GIGAbyte account which you are only using 3 GB of? Wow, what on Earth are you doing that takes up 3GB? Well your problems are easily solved. Sell hosting in the remainder of your space. Set up virtual domains and sell the space, to anyone who will pay for it, UE related or not. I am sure you could bring in more than $75 a month by selling web space in 200 MB lots. I have a 500 MB web site and I know what it is like paying for that hosting. It is not cheap. But you can not expect your site visitors to pay for it. If you make the decision to put that much stuff on line then that's your decision. And if you let people add their stuff don't expect them to pay for it. I know, I've been down that road. People have good intentions, but as you may find, very few of them will actually help contribute, even some of those that say they will. I don't mean to insult thouse who have donated though, that is always appreciated by webmasters. But it really seems to be a Chicken-Little thing, everyone wants a slice of the pie, but nobody is willing to help bake it. I think you might have more sucess re-selling portions of your 35GB to raise money than you will collecting donations. Not to be negative, just offering suggestions.

| | | Do you still need donations? Perhaps if there were a way to keep a chart (monthly) of how much was needed, and how much had been met... ? [last edit 5/30/2003 7:48 PM by zaya - edited 1 times]

| | | Donations are always a wonderful plus. The chart at the top of this thread is fairly accurate -- every month, my costs increase by $110 CDN, so if I could receive that much in donations monthly, it would be wonderful. As it stands, I would rather pay out of my own pocket than have advertisements on this website. So, feel free to donate... remember, I work hard for the money which pays for this site, so if you can spare even a little, it benefits everyone.

| | | Av, can people send stamps? I sent some, I don's know if you have any use for US stamps but the canadians could send Canadian stamps if it helps you. And for those that don't have any money, just go steal the stamps outta your moms purse. Or for those still on the teat, ask the peeps for $10 to go see matrix 2. It's not hard to get money from parents.....c'mon people, it's called "social engineering." Put it to good use.

| | | Posted by Avatar-X Well, right now I'm looking for a good host thats not too expensive, who can offer me a windows 2000 server (shared is ok) with 5gb or more of storage space, and at least 60-100 gb of monthly transfer. I've found a couple online but I'm not sure how good they are.
