| | | they'll apparently still be republishing this same article for my grandkids to read. hopefully Detroit will still be around then, but no matter, im sure there will always be more newspapers around who'll recycle it regardless.

| | | Wow! There was so much variety in the types of buildings they picked.
Beautiful...and very very sad!

| | | Yes. That is correct. Over the next 36-48 months the remaining 700,000 residents will likely move out ... leaving the city completely abandoned. Enjoy.

I heard the economy up there took a downward spiral very fast...the place would be perfect for a zombie outbreak to take place.

| | | Having lived in MI and parts of Detroit for most of my life, I can say the spirit of the city will keep it alive, but the old buildings will slowly be taken down in the effort to put up newer condos and office spaces as part of the revitalization of the city. For too long many people sprawled into the suburbs but with much of the state money going to Detroit and its efforts more and more young to middle age suburbanites are moving BACK into the city. Its a very weird place to visit or live. But I can say there is nowhere else quite like it either!

| | | What parts of detroit are reasonably safe to explore alone/in pairs? Or, if its shorter, what parts of Detroit are too unsafe to consider? I'm seriously considering a visit.
