Louisiana people?

So while waiting the 3 day period to be able to post, I saw a few people from LA here, which is awesome!!

Just how many do we have? I love seeing other abandoned places from here.

I have a few posts I will get around to sharing soon of pics I have taken in the last year or so, mostly of places in New Orleans.

I'm from Lafayette, btw...where are you other LA people from?

The Louisiana crowd has become fairly active in the last couple of years. There are several active explorers from north to south in your state. One easy way to find them is to use the "User Srch" function to the left of your screen and search by location.

Another good way is to just scan through the south region forums. Lot of good info in the FAQ section also. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I will try that, and hopefully some will reply to the post also.

Its so exciting to me to find people who love doing this as much as I do. My husband goes with me, and he's so patient, but he thinks is really boring...so I am happy to find people who enjoy it too!

I'm sure someone will respond. It may take a day or two, or a few. But they will.

Welcome to the forums. =)
I'm in New Orleans, originally from Shreveport. There have been a lot more Louisiana people posting lately than in the past. There's a meet up happening in Shreveport in late March. http://www.uer.ca/...nt.asp?eventid=545

Welcome to UER!

I'm up in Shreveport, I've not been too active in my posts of places usually takes me a few weeks to get around to it. I'm also hosting the meet up for later on in this month. There are about 5-8 others that are quite active on top of those that have already responded most are around Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Well...... crap........

Baton Rouge here and we got a lot of cool people down here in LA. I will be in Laff next week and I here you got some awesome stuff up there either way there's tons of bad ass stuff down here. Send me a PM if you got some time to kill Monday around 5 and we will see what up. And the best way to make friends on UER is by making some kick-ass posts and not being a Dbag. Good luck and Welcome....

Dripik-

What are you interested in around my area? I find it to be a little boring here =) New Orleans has a lot of stuff...we're going to TN soon and I'm hoping to do a little there too.

You're coming into town at 5 next Monday?

I was in town yesterday But I will be in town next Monday to but yesterday i got out around 230. As far as places to go I saw 2 or 3 myself while I was headed home but I heard there is a planetarium there and that's what I'm dying to see. So hit me back about this coming Monday I will be down to see whats up.

Well, I work full time and Monday's arent really that good for me bc of my kids schedules. During the week, the best days for me are Tuesdays. But I dont get off of work before 5, which right now never leaves me much time/light for exploring. But what time do you plan to be checking things out on Monday?

I usually do my exploring on weekends, especially in NOLA, because of my husband's job and bc I use him for a lookout/protection while I shoot pics. How often do you head down there? Or to central or northern LA? I average getting down to New Orleans about once every month or every other month. Baton Rouge is less than an hr from me, so I can hit up places there pretty easily.

I have a TON of places I'd love to visit in LA, all over...there is one house I have seen a million times that I think is in or near the line of Iberia Parish, but its been there so long I wonder if its not too infiltrated by plant life and snakes and such, but I still want to go check it out. I tend to like to do a little more UE in the cooler months or early in the morning when its less hot due to snakes. (Funny- I dont worry too much about coming across people while doing this but the thought of running into a bunch of snakes freaks me out!)

I saw that there is possibly an abandoned planetarium here...we have a newer one, too, so I only knew about the older one recently. I think I know the location of it, but I am not sure if its still abandoned. I thought I might drive by today or tomorrow sometime to see how the location looks as far as how easy it might be to get in there, or if the building is used at all. Knowing Lafayette so well, I would say be careful going there bc of:

1)the cops
2)homeless people

Especially if you end up exploring anywhere near downtown. There is a BIG problem with homeless people/squatters here and you could easily run into them, they've had house fires downtown from squatters/homeless going into houses and lighting fires for warmth, they always have homeless people & panhandlers downtown at night...

And the cops patrol a lot around campus (I believe this location to be near a park that is off of campus...its not directly ON campus, but near it) and patrol a LOT downtown and in the "bad" areas of town where you'd be more likely to see locations that would be open to exploring. They love development over here right now and are trying to do away with a lot of abandoned places within the city, so they arent so easy to find, which sucks.

I found this really awesome looking building in Carencro, though I am not completely sure its 100% abandoned. I went to check it out the other day and even though its in really terrible condition and on land with a couple of other structures in REALLY bad shape, I think the back of it might be currently used as a greenhouse. But the structure is ENORMOUS and really unique looking. I am interested in possibly looking at other places to explore there, too, if you know of any. Its a lot of country out there, so the potential for a building/house/etc is pretty good.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana here!

I'm totally new to the forums and would love to meet up with any Louisiana people.
I also have a friend that I go exploring with who I'm sure would be down to come, too.

Let me know about any meetups y'all!!

Shreveport. Karamer is too. This city is post apocalyptic.

I saw a breathing lump under a blanket, what could it be? - 1 hobo - 2 dwarf hobos - 8 racoons - 443 rats - 896 mice or 11 rat kings?

Louisiana has great places to explore outside of the Baton Rouge area. I tend to stay away from the north br area, as the crime has jumped drastically in the area, especially violet crimes. But there are plenty of places for the curious anywhere within 30 minutes drive outside on the city limits.

Any close cities in particular?

I'm from BR so most of my exploring is in this area and there's always New Orleans (which is a whole different exploring experience in and of itself)

I'm new here (this is my first post actually), but I'm also from south Louisiana (Morgan City area). I've never done any UE stuff before, but I would love to get into it. My interest in UE was sparked about a year or so ago when I first saw some pics of the abandoned 6 flags in New Orleans and I have been obsessed with going there ever since.
I see that meet-ups seem to be a big thing around here, so maybe some of us Louisianians could meet up and check out 6 Flags sometime?

One other thing. There is a very cool looking building around the White Castle area which I'm sure most will recognize from the pic as it is right on the main road. It looks like it was probably a small school or something similar. Has anyone ever checked it out? I notice that the side door is wide open so it would be easy to get in. This is the building I am talking about:

I've driven by that building a few times and have been tempted.

As for six flags, went there a couple of years ago and would love to hit it again this fall.

We found an old school north of Denham Springs that seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. I could give you more info off-forum.
