Vital Films - THANK YOU! It was killing me not to know who owned this place. It was gorgeous. The old stone house is in the back near the silo.

Sadly some vandals broke in and painted sexually explicit images on the brick...this is how we got in.

Craven and I walked about 2 KMS through a farm field in waist deep snow to see this beauty. The driveway was just too.....open. Yes, active neighbors across the street.

Did it mention where the Gostwick's were buried? If not I'll look it up. I wanted to take a photo of their grave stones to add to this posting.

I'm typing this with my middle fingers.
I love the smell of mold in the fall.

No problem BeerBunny! When I first saw this thread I fell in love with this house right away. lol. Had to find out myself who lived here and what the history was.
As for where the family was buried, the Gostick Cemetery apparently is on the same property. I guess you didn't see any cemetery when you were there. In the aerial photo you can't see a cemetery. I'll have to look around some more to see where exactly it is.

Cavemen were once secluded to caves. Then they were released, they were released to explore the world!

It's a beautiful farmhouse with barge boards, polychromatic brickwork, and a verandah. The person who built this house was apparently quite attuned to Victorian trends in architecture. What really surprised me, though, was the rich interior trim and mouldings that the owners preserved, rather than stripped in some pathetic "modernization" renovation in the 1960s, as was so common. It's the kind of trim that people pay a lot for in new houses in the quasi-historicist style.

I went here today... You really feel the wind when you're in a huge open area - damn it was cold out! Looks like someone boarded up the POE and the entire place is secure (unless someone wants a B&E mark on their record). Speaking of which when I got into my car a "Security" pick-up truck drove past me really slow checking me out. Apparently Transport Canada doesn't want people messing with these places.

CV - sorry I couldn't make it out this weekend, the bum flu got me good (TMI, sorry!).

I'm glad it's boarded in a way, as many 'artists' were starting to trash it up. No offense to artists (I'm talking about the young peeps drawing poorly designed vagina's and unpractical size boobs and Dongs on gorgeous original bricks).
(pardon my filth talk).

Not to act as the authority on the security, but I have not had issues with them. They usually just check to make sure you are not destroying the buildings. I've ran into them a few times on my way out and just waved. As long as you are not in the act of something terrible (Aside from Trespassing) and you don't run - they seem to be decent folk.
I'd love to pick their brains on more locations

It's all good. Shit happens (pardon the pun).

Filth talk? I know you're capable of better! During our first meet you mentioned you swear like a truck driver... I've yet to see that!

That's what I figured. I think the neighbours are in cahoots with security also... Given the huge area they would have to patrol I find it odd that security would drive by where I was at that specific time. I also checked a place out that was down the street;

Completed boarded up and inaccessible, but still damn nice to look at. There was also another place set back in the forest. I'll go to that one in the Spring when I can see the ground and what's on it.

I recognize that beauty - 350

It's historical and saved and seems to be boarded nicely, but it was infiltrated not long ago. I drove by and the boards were ripped up.

In the back there is a barn full of HUGE John Deere equipment. I squeezed under the barn door and took a nail to the ass (there I swore).

I like to keep my swearing in person. It makes people think twice about me. I look innocent, but that filth mouth keeps them wondering. LOL!

Fuck Monday's suck at work....

That would be the one! I had to check out a pic that I took of the house with the house number in it. Do you know the other one I speak of? The one in the woods (white and not so old) it has a blocked driveway and it's almost at the main road (going east back to Stouffville).

Since you live in the area do you know exactly what's going to happen to these places? All I could sniff out online was that Transport Canada owns a huge plot of land there and there might be an airport being built? Meaning all these houses would be demo'd? What a fucking waste.

Fuck Monday's suck at work....

Hahahaha! There you go.

I highly doubt anyone will think less of you - not here anyways.

This is the proposed site for the Pickering Airport. It starts from about York-Durham line all the way to Brock road (and slightly past in some areas). It goes as North as Myrtle Road (Concession 9).

There are many posts on this site about it. You can also read more on Landoverlandings.com

It's very sad. This darkness has pillaged the area and caused many beautiful, historical homes to rot into the dirt.

The other house you speak of - Yes, I know it. Check out my Post on Silver Maple by Henry H. It's on this site too

He was a veterinarian from Scotland. He is buried near by - I went to his grave site recently.

Here's a link I read back in late October. Buttonville Airport is due to close in the future and the proposed Pickering Airport will most likely happen.
