|  | | | I visited this abandoned nursing home about a year ago. I shot with film so I couldn't tell if the photos turned out well, but they were pretty neat in the end.
I have no history on this building other than that it's located in the rural piedmont of North Carolina and there is no access road to it, although it was completely unguarded and easy to get to.
The burnt down morgue.
I'm told there used to be patient files, syringes, and other medical paraphernalia there but after a brief stint as a crackhouse, there is little to see there of note.

I once went to an abandoned hospital back home in Chattanooga and i found a room there that still had all the stuff in it. The clothes were hanging up and suitcases tucked away. it was creepy.

| | | | Hate to drag up a old thread, but I've been to this location, several times, about 15 years ago.
When I went, it hadn't been vandalized or destroyed (by nature) nearly as much as the pics I've seen of the place in the last couple years.
I've read a lot of stories on the net that this place closed as recently as 2002 or so. This is not the case.
When I last visited the place, there were still needles and vials of (old, dried, and brown) bloos, and a room full of patien records scattered across the floor. Also a lot of magazines around the place.
The latest date I could find on records or magazines was 1988ish.
Last time I was there, it was a really creepy place. Only one part of the building had the ceiling caved in. The rest of the place was in very good shape. It looked as if everyone (patients, staff, etc), had simply disapeared. EVERYTHING that would be in an operating nursing home, was there. Beds, dressers, needles, fridges, wheel chairs, clothing, etc etc...all still there.
