I heard yesterday that they had begun to renovate it. Is this true, or is it still partially abandoned?

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

^They tried to fight to get some stimulus dollars for it, but I've never found out if that panned out.

The last time I was there was November. They had completely cleared out entire floors of crap. I have no idea what they plan on doing with the building.

They may just be cleaning it up. There's a guy in the neighborhood who constantly writes editorials to the paper and raises hell about how it's "blight." The last time I posted an update about it on my website, he was kind enough to forward the link to the company who owns it, complaining about people like me. At least he CC'd me on the email.

Yeah, I know the Camp Washington guy who complains all the time. He's actually a nice guy, and I met him through one of my architecture classes at UC. He never made the connection that I was one of the guys sneaking into it and taking photos, although he complained about "those people with blogs" right to my face when I was presenting a hypothetical renovation project.

I'm doing a thesis on the building right now, and there aren't any renovation plans, but the owners are starting to take some initiative and clean it up and clear out all the junk in hopes of selling it to a developer of some sort.

I've been within the last couple weeks, and it's still as easy as ever to get into.

Haven't been there in over a year. I agree with tron, props for going at night. You couldn't catch me dead in that building at night, it always gave me the creeps. Kudos.

Is it really that bad? I was a bit nervous at first but i got over it real fast. Is it a bad neighborhood or something? It probably wasnt so bad since i was with two other people. but idk.

The neighborhood isn't bad at all. It's basically empty at night, as it's mostly factories that are used during the day. It's really easy to go at night, and harder during the day, Sundays being the exception. I live < 5 minutes away and have probably been close to 20 times, most of the time it's at night. Once it was alone at night, and that was a bit freaky, otherwise it seems fine. There are definitely some places I wouldn't want to do at night, but this is one I'd say is fine.

^ + 1

I've been there about 15 times. All entering at daytime, leaving at night. Never ran into anybody but other explorers.

Sundays is easier. The only real obstacle besides the house next door thats occasionally occupied your only hassle is traffic since Arlington dumps on spring grove. The place is quite creepy, but there's no reason. Possibly just because how big it is and all the screeching wind noises.

Nah, it's really not that bad, I just have a wild imagination. I went with two guys who enjoyed trying to scare me, which was why I was paranoid. I'd love to visit at night, with the right people.

I had forgotten all about this place.. I tried to get in once, but it was daytime and there were some workers in the yard next door. I planned on going back eventually, but live to far away now to consider it. Thanks so much for posting these photos, and the name of the building so I could easily research it.

New member - first post. Hopefully i can be as contributing a member here as others.

Went with some friends last weekend(had to wait for account clearance to post here). Entry for us was pretty simple, largest one of the group was 5'11'' 210lbs and everyone made it to the tower. Very jealous of your snow pix! No snow on our trip only rain.

- Had to go up 2 dif stair wells to access roof
- iron ladder to tower is missing steps(be safe!)
- it didnt look as if it was being renovated but there was a light on outside in the back area that was gated off, and inside there were forklifts.
