|  | | | Yesterday I had to go to Yongsan to get my computer keyboard de-gunked. Yongsan is an interesting place with a massive electronics market full of shady deals. It also has a Korean Hooters, a red-light district, the most violent and high-profile abandonment in the country, a storm drain you could fly a 747 into, and mini-golf.
On my way to drop the computer off, I spotted a hotel with all the windows out. I came back and slipped behind the curtain, only to find...
1. Abandoned red-light district!
2. The hotel.
3. The front gate. The Korean translates roughly to "Little boys keep out place."
4. A better look from the rooftop. This part pictured below was half active, and half closed off.
5. Inside a hooker's room.
6. What's more depressing than a "LOVE" light inside a hooker's room?
7. Easy. Wedding pictures inside a whorehouse. Don't they look happy?
8. How about this? An honest-to-god hooker's fridge.
9. I was going to pose for a picture in here, until I saw what was on the newspaper. Someone took a dump on it.
10. Certainly not the nicest looking prostitute I've seen.
11. The inside of the hotel was gutted.
12. You can sort of see the demolished area where the infamous Yongsan Massacre took place. That's where evictees battled against anti-terrorist police on an abandonment rooftop and six people died. UE in Korea never gets dull.
13. Which is worse: crawling through an abandoned red-light district alone, or crawling through an abandoned red-light district with these guys?
14. Then I found one whorehouse where the beds were still mostly intact.

They're actually Korean hahoe masks. One is yangban (upper class) and the other is seonbi (scholar). In traditional Korean mask dances the two are depicted as rivals. Not really sure what kind of credibility they offer, but if anyone walks in on you wearing one they'll probably get out of there pretty fast.
