This thread has renewed the disappointment I felt when I first heard that the Underground Railroad was mostly aboveground and didn't involve railroads that much.

| | | | FINALLY! My 3-day waiting period is over (I’m fresh) and I can post on this thread.
I first heard about the tunnels in 2000. The ones I heard about have entrances at Hume Fogg and University School of Nashville. I’m guessing an elderly custodian could point the way. After perusing the Vandy tunnel website I’m wondering if the USN tunnels aren’t just part of Vandy utility tunnels.
Once-ler’s comment immediately brought to mind the old Nashville general Hospital, which is now condos. I can think of all sorts of creepy reasons for a Hospital to have tunnel access to the riverfront. Perhaps I’m reaching.
As far as recon goes, have you considered/been to the main library’s Nashville room? I bet searching microfiche for prohibition era crime logs and newspapers may yield some interesting results.
Anyway, I am interested in contributing recon/exploration/charm to your mission. I grew up here and probably have some useful connections.
