damn, so those are active? I give you guys credit for having some huge balls. I'd be too afraid of getting crushed up top, although I'm sure there are security measures preventing that.

Those are some damn fine pics. I've never seen anything like that before. Kudos.

The hatch from the cab is always locked from the top. Techs (and us) get in to the shaft a different way.

Shitty video is ready. Slightly better video is coming once I get some time on a computer with firewire.

Strolling

And it's about as safe as walking next to traffic. If you know where the moving parts are, you're ok. If you're in a traffic lane, so to speak, you'll get hurt bad.

That is crazy and awesome. Looks like without a wide angle you wouldn't get too much out of that little space. Great shots!

Nice pics. Always thought elevator surfing might be something neat to try once. Not sure it would interest me enough to make it a regular habit.

I knew about elevator surfing, but I just did some Googling and was surprised to discover that some people are really into elevators, the way some of us are into trains or drains. There are elevator forums, and people who upload elevator films to Youtube. I am fascinated by the fact that there are people who are extremely fascinated by elevators. What a bizarre obsession! I guess someone else could say the same about drains though. However, I am not trying to belittle their interest; on the contrary, I think it's great that they're into something besides football or MTV or whatever it is we're all supposed to be interested in. I just never suspected that elevator fanatics existed. It's blowing my mind.

I wonder what they think of elevator surfers. Do elevator filmers look down on surfers like railfans hate freighthoppers?

That is freaking cool! You should have played some silly pranks on the folks riding the elevator. Like a drop of water through a crack in the ceiling--If possible...

Not quite as quick a getaway as throwing bricks at Security cars from a roof.
