Durham, NC Adventures..

Here is my first explored building.

I always wondered about this building over the years, seeing as how it's only a few feet away from my church I used to attend.

From what I gathered, this used to be one of the only African American schools in Durham, NC, and had a somewhat good history. Here are some photos that i've took, but these weren't the only ones. More will come...

2. Here is the back side. This is where I was able to get inside and take pics without arousing suspicion.

3. Here is the inside of the barn on the right of the second picture....
More pictures will come..

Let's go here. And the schools all start to look the same if they're from the same era.

We'll meet you there? I guess we could meet at the mellow mushroom at the American Tobacco campus and go from there.

Today good?

[I have exams this Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; all in the morning)

Yeah, but I haven't gone in person so that's not worth much. Not a lot of sketch-free parking right around it though.

Edit: Rather, doesn't look like there's much good parking around it.

Well, now everybody does, since you posted a picture with the name visible.

Just a heads up, usually it's a good practice to obfuscate info like that.

Otherwise, welcome to the site! There are not too many of us here in Durham.

But how many people read the paper? You'd be surprised how many bad people troll this site for places to go squat, steal, or break shit. And, finally, ugly truth: this pastime asks a certain amount of discretion. If you want people to take you neat places you'll have to show that it won't wind up on your Facebook Checkin and be geotagged on facebook.

Yeah, I saw that article. Most of these places are not forgotten completely, and a lot of them are even major parts of city skylines and are quite visible to the public.

The point is not so much to keep people from finding out that they exist as it is to keep them from finding out that WE go there, and how to get in.

5. I forget which floor this was...

Yeah, not much parking anywhere. I don't know how people parked when the school was in operation...

Well,, I went back to just get a few more pics of this school. But what I found is shocking!

This classroom, which had the elmo thing on the wall, has apparently been trashed further.

The kitchen portion of the cafeteria was blocked off by a wall, and the metal thing ( Sink, I presume was up against the wall. Well, that wall has been torn down, this overturned, and the old rusty stove that was in this area is now gone..

That blue light in the middle is where I took the picture from outside when I first started exploring this school. They put a big piece of wood over the window, and as evidenced here, a lot of junk in this area of the cafeteria..
