Probably contaminated with decades of film chemicals. I'd watch out for those ducks.
Keep it fuzzy. |

| | | I know the pond. It's pretty disgusting. I need to go back here. I just found an old camera my dad had when he was younger and I'm 90% sure it was built at this factory. It's a Kodak Tourist and says Made in Canada on the inside. I want to find some film for it and take a few pictures of the building with it. If anyone knows where you could buy 620 film in Toronto send me a message. I also read somewhere that you can re-spool 120 medium format film to fit 620 film cameras.

That's pretty cool man, hope you get the chance to do it. I've always kinda liked how Kodak continued to attract (some) people that came for photography.. even after it was abandoned. I saw these a while back, maybe you'll find them interesting. Photos of the place before the fires and giant murky puddles. Maybe they had ducks back then though.
edit: I think I may have seen these images on the forum before, can't remember. [last edit 1/18/2011 10:44 PM by Brian_n - edited 1 times]

| | | I've never seen them before, thanks for sharing! It's pretty amazing that the place used to be that nice and big. And look at how small Eglinton is!

| | | Nice pic, but I can't really place it. Is that the current rail line going next to the angled building? [last edit 1/19/2011 3:12 AM by Lars - edited 1 times]

I think that's it. And then the building on the driveway right beside the road, Eglinton, would be Building 9. But I could be totally off.

I'd take a guess it happened during Toronto's good and bad love affair with concrete in the 60's. I think I can see the Westview Greenbelt in that photo.

| | | cool. It's a reminder of the nearsightedness of modern planning that swept the continent at that time. Thankfully there were some people who had issues with it. Walking through that concrete canyon is a nightmare.
