Old mansion of a boxer. Northeast Ohio

Hello everyone. I'm new and from NEO. I didn't want to post too much info, as I'm still a little worried, but anyway, if any of you have seen this place - it's pretty much amazing and I'd love some indoor photos. I went once a few years back, but was a little worried to go all the way inside. yeah, i'm lame. When I went back it was boarded up so I didn't bother. Someone is keeping the place up - the grass and bushes is kept decent, but no one lives in it. It's the strangest thing.

Used to be owned by a boxer (Earnie Shavers) and he mentions it here: http://books.googl...=onepage&q&f=false

It's now owned by a pastor and his wife, but the pastor just died recently, so who knows. They never lived there from what I could tell, so no idea. Of course, it's owned by the same people who bought the land for Idora Park so...

Anyway, enough backstory of nothing. Here's some pics. (Oh, and I f'ng love this house)

What the hell is it with abandoned houses of former pro boxers in Ohio?

Seriously...

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Lots of good boxers come from Ohio? I really have no idea, ha. However this house is older than Tyson's. It was built in '74.

I wonder if it has zebra-striped carpet, too?

Ha, I doubt it. This house was more old school. Had those cool "ball" lights. They made the driveway look real classy. We glanced in the kitchen and the fridge still worked too. Had baking soda in it

So I found some more info (old article). It's amazing how much your Google Fu can improve in a few years

The place he found not long ago isn't exactly the fulfillment of his youthful dream, but it is close enough in size and elegance that any antebellum plantation owner would have been proud to call it home. Pressing matters having taken him away from the mansion these days, Shavers carries around a sales brochure describing it, as if to remind himself how far he's come to get where he's at, which is right there in Mecca, Ohio.

"The very finest estate in Trumbull County," reads the brochure. "Deer roam the 70 acres surrounding this beautiful 3-year-old French Normandy manor house that overlooks a stocked lake. One wing 40 x 60 encloses a 22 x 40 heated indoor pool for year-round swimming. Seven bedrooms, three suites, seven full bathrooms with gold fixtures, two half-baths, sauna and steam room. Easily accessible with private landing field and hangar."

I also went through a ton of public records and it looks like the pastor and his wife did live there for ahile, so who knows what changed. I didn't realize the house had that much, though. And there is a hangar on the *extremely* long driveway to this place. It's still active, I believe, but owned by someone else now, obviously. It's basically in a cluster of trees in the middle of corn fields so it's in an awesome and secluded location. I'm happy to provide info to full members who would want to check it out.

first off its really hard to read what youve said when theres its all written in semiilliterate poor grammar without any punctuation among other things one can hardly tell where a sentence begins and ends second how the heck would anybody know whether youre really who you say you are you might be a graffiti artist or tagger or worse a cia member who is infiltrating uer with poor grammar to get all of the top secret tricks third the mansion is actually the top sekrit location of the lost treasure of charles bronson who found a bunch of nazi gold while he was filming the great escape in germany but he didnt want to let the other actors know because richard attenborough was a thieving bastard and because he owed donald pleasence like 20 bucks from that time they went out to the strip club and he bet him that pleasence couldnt go home with a stripper but what do you know good ol donnie left with like 3 of the girls that silver tongued devil anyway bronson was really good friends with shavers after they met while filming an extra special episode of whats happening where the family thinks that jj is going to die but it turns out in the end that the doctor messed up and he really only has a mild eczema back to the point though these jerks wanna keep all the money for themselves you should get out there with a metal detector and shovel asap and you owe me 20 percent of whatever you find because i was the one nice enough to share the information with you

This is neat. When Shavers fought Ali (I think he did at least) his niece was @ my house like the following day for whatever reason. She was a nice young lady.

You betcha
