Ever Feel Unsafe In An Abandonment?

For me this was that place.

November 14th, 2010 -

Back out exploring I was, well more so shoot for a music video my friend is working on. But the point is the town we filmed in was practically a ghost town, other than single family homes pretty much everything is boarded up and falling down. After we shot the scene for the video on a back ally way we got out our camera to go explore. We didn't have much time in the day left to shoot so we went for a building we figured we could get into. after walking past some rehab building with a guy out side blabbering on about some movie he saw and trying to follow us, shortly there after we ditched him and made our way around and inside.

The interior was nicer than excepted but still a little sketchy, it seems everything in the town is fairly unstable. Trust me, that wasn't the only sketchy thing about this place.

We made our way on through the old building eventually discovering it was a hotel. With roughly 400 rooms it wasn't a small hotel, especially in such an old and what seemed to me obscure town. We covered it pretty well then went next door while the was still time, but I'll include that in my next post.

I love that 2nd picture. Forgive my ignorance but is that a camera effect or is the hallway curving to the right? If so it seems like a very interesting building.

Either way excellent explore.

** edit I have also felt very unsafe in an abandonment... especially exploring this spot alone:

Yes, the hallway did curve like that actually.

I don't know why but it seems like no place will go without even a dot of spray paint. (not sure what that last part means).

sadly youre pretty right. "why do the heathens rage behind the firehouse" is from a REM song called oddfellows local 151. i assume "why do the heathens rage" is a reference to the bible psalm 2:1

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. (Psalm 2:1-5).

It's actually an apartment complex. Gives me a "The Shining" feel every time. Did you get to the bank downstairs?

The best thing about that town is the fact that the alcohol rehab facility is next door to a bar.

Edit:
The town was intended to be a major city and was supposed to actually be THE city of the area as opposed to Pittsburgh. However the location of Pittsburgh was more profitable and this one was basically abandoned. It has become such a shit hole because the man who owned all of the buildings jumped ship and fled to another state. He is still owner of the buildings. They keep trying to nail him for tax evasion.

The caged being inside of you must break free from his shackles, for our partial sanity or pseudo-sanity, if so applies, cannot contain it forever without repercussion of mental breakdown.
