I've posted a few images from my recent trip to TN in various "Have you ever found X while exploring?" threads, but here's the dedicated set I've been meaning to do. Beautiful fall weather made for some great contrasts between the colorfully dying leaves, the perfect sky, and this towering artifact.

I.

One thing that turned out to be a pleasant surprise but really shouldn't have been so surprising at all was the effect of the ring on loud noises. If you've been, I think you know what I mean - fun echoes!

II.

III.

IV.

I love pretty much everything about the shapes and outlines of this thing against the blue of the sky. The gradient of darker blue is from my circular polarizer.

V.

VI.

VII.

The structure was bit alien and its size and location in the middle of a huge field with a backdrop of wooded mountains in autumn color made the day a bit surreal.

VIII.

IX.

X.

XI.

Check out the human for a sense of scale - he's seated on the ground to the right. To be fair, he's actually outside the perimeter.

XII.

We monkeyed about on the pylons and lounged around in the grass for over an hour, enjoying the perfect temperature and the sunshine. We may or may not have been spotted - there was definitely activity on the site nearby - but no one attempted to shoo us away so I felt perfectly at ease taking these images and many more.

Critical critique helps me improve my photography - thanks!

a modern Stonehenge.

I think this is exactly what I was trying to say but couldn't find words for, possibly because I've never been to Stonehenge. Thanks!

Very cool site, it's on my to-do list. Maybe this spring when it gets a little warmer.
