I am going up to da UP eh!

I will be in The Iron Mountain area visiting family for Thanksgiving. I am looking for some places to explore in or near Dickinson County. Any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc. would be helpful and appreciated!

message me or post.

By the way does anyone know how to get to this place? Apparently, it is Norway.

You can see that place from the highway. It's on the north side of the highway. VERY visible. But in the UP you can usually get away with snooping around old ruins and such - nobody really cares.

Copper Country has far more ruins and such than Iron Mountain, but there are a few things to see there. If you have time to drive to the Houghton area, I'd highly recommend it and might be able to point you in the direction of several semi-public ruins.

I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird.

Iowa is Minnesota's bitch. There's an art to pooping.

Unfortunately, I do not have time to go up to da Copper Country donchya know. My grandparents were from Laurium (next to Calumet). If I head up that way in spring/summer months would it be ok to message you about places you are aware of? I have been the really obvious places... but, the copper country is a gold mine for Urb-Exers! I really wish I still lived in the UP sometimes!

I seem to remember seeing a few abandon-looking things while passing through Channing. Iron River and Chrystal Falls are cool towns, too.

Everything else I know about in the UP is farther away.

OOOOooooh good call! I forgot about The Niagra Paper Mill on the Menominee River. Supposedly it is closed/ out of business. It also has me drooling! I think I may see how closed they really are this weekend. I am assuming they will have alarm/security measures still up... but I will investigate anyway.

This may be in the wrong post or something so forgive me, but I would highly recommend making a stop by the Tahquamenon Artesian Water Company on the way through the U.P. I believe the building is off HWY 123 and you can't miss it on the East side of the road. It was fairly easily accessable with a little poking around. There were a lot of really interesting papers inside which gave some strange history on the building. The place was in really good shape, just a lot of pigeon crap on the 2nd floor, and a huge brown recluse we found in the basement. I will try and post some pics if your interested.

Dodgenburn- 2 of my uncles worked at that now-closed paper mill. I keep making it a point to askingthem about the situation. I'll let you know if I manage to get some info (I live in minneapolis, so I don't really know them as well as I should).

I only listen to 104.7 Poop. I'm always in deep shit, so I may as well listen to poop.

We go camping for a week every summer up in the UP with most of it being near or on the Keweenaw. There are a ton of places to explore. I hope to hit Freda for a closer look sometime.

Great shots. I was just in Kingsford in business and never knew anything about the ford site. I must go back soon. Urban Decay runs rampant in the UP of Michigan. You can find quite a bit just driving, or biking for that matter.
