Camp 30 is looking...ummm...rough. I was expecting to see such rich history in the walls, but I guess the last conversion into a school sucked the history from the walls. It was pretty destroyed. Glad I got to see it though....

Oh and TONS of P0RN in the Mechanics room!

It's such a shame. I'm glad I got a chance to see it when it was still fairly untouched/not on fire.

I know right now that the developer that owns the land is trying to give it to the municipality, and they don't really want it.

First off, no one would actually go to a POW museum, secondly, that'd take care of one, maybe two buildings, thirdly, no Clarington residents would want their tax dollars spent on that.

But they are actively trying to find a way to repurpose the buildings.

If I recall correctly, it was the Schoolhouse building that was the most historically significant, which was been beyond repair for over 2 years now, and now demolished.

You saw what kind of condition the buildings were in when we went last May....comparing that to when I went the previous year, the level of damage was pretty dramatic. I imagine it would be quite depressing to see what it looks like now.

do you think this is something that should be saved, it is part of canada's shame filled history. I guess we should not forget the past. have it there to remind us how despicable we were during the wars.

When I was there two years ago it was still reasonably in tact. Now, fires and vandals have really taken a toll.

I'm not sure what you mean. This wasn't a camp for imprisoning regular Germans that happened to live in Canada. Rather, if was for German officers:

Which part of Camp 30's history was despicable, exactly?

Maybe he was referring to this:

"...Germans held in Canada were chained up in retaliation, sparking a riot at the Bowmanville POW camp west of Toronto that was hit by a news blackout by Canada’s censors."

The most nefarious event I can connect with the school happened long after it was a pow camp. I am referring to the kidnapping and eventual death of the man who owned the property and ran it as a business school for asian students. These events all took place off school property and unfortunately he was killed during the bungled kidnapping/ransom attempt
You hear so much these days about the terrible things that took place in reform schools, orphanages, residential schools and church run facilities that perhaps the worst atrocities took place during its original incarnation as a boys school

Emerson was just like making out and heavy petting,
then your parents come home...

Camp 30 was:
"I'm nervous,? But I think I love you!"
"Shhh... don't worry it won't hurt..."

I must have been in another room when all the cherry popping happened. Logtec was popping two of them at once. . . While all this was going on, I was off exploring the new fire pit some kids made in the gym floor that burnt down to the support beams. A lot of new destruction happened in the last month. I can post some pics later.
