Fellow explorers in Bangkok?

I'm going to be in Bangkok around Nov 23 during the day. Is anyone up for exploring and photography?

I'd like to check out Sathorn Unique, but I don't have any info about access. Are there other locations I should check out? I'm definitely more into the photography side of things so I'd be up for any visually interesting decaying locations.

There don't currently seem to be any active explorers on this site from there. If you are only there for one day, you won't be able to go very far to see anything. The best sites I've heard of are in Chiang Mai, and are several years out of date.

Well, here's one thing that may or may not help.

Steed, ah well. Yes, I'm familiar with that link. I'm not sure how high profile that site is. I will at least walk by.

I'm also going to be in Cambodia and southern Vietnam. We'll see if I can work in some exploring. I'm going to try to make it to Bokor Hill.

Oh yeah, I'd expect a lot more out of Cambodia and Vietnam.

Angkor Wat inspired in me pretty much every sensation of awe I've ever felt while exploring, only magnified 10x. That place is downright magical.

That is great to know. I'm spending 2 days there. I am hoping that I am not just cursing at the tourists to get out of my shot.

Oh, you have no idea how incredibly massive, complex, and sprawling these places are. So long as you get off the beaten path - by which I mean to some of the other temples, not just Angkor proper - there will be plenty of opportunity for good, people-free photos. You might have to be more patient at some of the more popular destinations and I doubt it's possible to get a people-free shot of Angkor's front walk without a lot of patience, but on the whole I was quite pleased with how easy it was to turn a corner at some of the side temples and completely feel alone. Also, remember that a person or two can help give a sense of scale. If you're really picky, consider going very early in the morning and also considering braving the insane heat of the day. If I remember correctly, a 2-day pass starts the night before, so if you buy a pass for tomorrow, that means you can legitimately gain entrance at the temple just... west of Angkor, I want to say, for the sunset (and only the sunset).

Enjoy! I wish I'd bought the weeklong pass, it was that awesome!

there is not much to explore in Bangkok, spent 2 weeks there this summer.

Everything abandoned is either razed, bulldozed, or heavily guarded.

Especially since the May riot and protests, there are police officers everywhere.

You can find a bunch of abandoned buildings here and there, but nothing very interesting.

The casual misogyny and racism in this thread should embarrass everyone involved, including the moderators who apparently couldn't be bothered to moderate it / have actively participated in it.

** Posting from Thailand, where there's plenty to 'explore' if you put some creativity, effort and resources into it.

You've obviously spent too much time on the beach, judging by all that sand in your vag.

judging from the mountains in the first picture, it is nowhere close to Bangkok.

As for the other ones, it could be anywhere.
