| | | Posted by uLiveAndYouBurn But yeah there are plenty of talking alarm systems out there. Some of them are even real people who are watching you on camera rather than a recorded message.

Yup. I got seen in mid-winter going down into an area along the river owned by the local power company. I hear a distant voice over a loudspeaker but there was no one around. I did my scouting and there was nothing there. About 10 minutes later when I was leaving I just landed after jumped down off the fence and security show up and rounded the corner just in time to see me landing back on the ground. Seems like they saw me on a camera and then sent security from another site. The guard was okay and confirmed what happened. I played dumb.

Meh, maybe not then... that's just what I heard, second hand. Was never in the mood for getting arrested when I was out there, so I took the long hike up the back side of the mountain and viewed the sign through the back fence. btw this says it has a "bilingual audio warning system"... http://www.hollywo...0STUDY%20FINAL.pdf (warning, PDF)

| | | I was behind a building once, and a box on the wall that I didn't notice before set off a camera flash then said "Attention: your picture has just been taken and will be used to prosecute you. Leave the area IMMEDIATELY." I decided not to chance it and left...

| | | My friends family has an alarm system in their house that talks. When a door or window is opened after the house has been armed it says, "Infiltration located. Dialing for help." then it counts down. Once it reaches 0 it says, "The authorities have been contacted, please wait." She's very polite, but I highly doubt the burglar is going to wait no matter how nicely she says "please".

| | | They exist, they're just rare. My first alarm was a talkie, it scared me shitless. "Warning! Warning! You have triggered an alarm! Evacuate, evacuate!!" Although I was terrified trying to run through waist-deep snow to my car, a part of me couldn't help but be a little amused that it was basically telling me what was happening and how to get away with it. I assume it was that way because they'd rather keep people from burning the mill down than up their arrests. Priorities. [last edit 1/31/2012 2:22 PM by Weirdlig - edited 1 times]
