We were sitting on this site for a while now, and finally decided to go. Weather was nice, grounds were kept pretty well, and there was a lot to cover. In the 6 hours we were there, we got through MOST of the main building.

I will most likely be visiting this place again in the upcoming month or so. I hope to get many many more photos and visit several of the other buildings. I posted as much as I could without exploding the site.

Our visit was cut a little short; we were caught about a minute after getting clear of the main building. The person patrolling worked for the Gov't, and was decent once he learned of our intentions. (IE Photos only; not wrecking the place, or looting for copper piping, etc.) He did give us fair warning that the county cops are no joke, and will nab us if they found us. He was fairly friendly, and would've let us continue after his warning... but we took it at face value since he was a gov't employee.

All things considered, I think we found a new site to repeatedly visit.

No.

Dude we saw the exterior of the place and about 50% of the main building; that's it.

Don't worry, return trips will be a-plenty.

Sure thing; may not be on the next trip in though.
We'll probably want to do a little more recon before new people. Please don't take offense; I'd just like to know my own way before I invite someone else.

I love that spot.

As an FYI the cops patrol the grounds at least once per day. Access to the property is permitted but the hospital buildings are all off-limits.

Not that it would stop me from visiting...

If it rusts I will find it

Thanks for the tip... in that case I'm glad the Gov't guy found me instead of the po-po. That would have been a bad thing.

Question though... any idea whether it's even possible to get a thumbs-up on permission? If we go there with tripods, ID, and documenting equipment what do you think the odds may be?

Many thanks.

I would much rather do it legit anyway; perhaps the people involved have a few stories to tell.

Thanks again for the tip.

Very nice shot... apologies; my morgue photos turned out absolutely terrible. My point and click throws up in poor lighting.

And yes, the fuzz be around at least once a day... or so I'm told by the contractor that caught us. He was pretty cool though; once he saw we weren't going to do any ritual sacrifices or burninations he went about his merry.

Fun place, deff. First time here was back in '08 and security was a lot tighter than it is now. They used to have a guard posted at all times that would drive around all day. I used to shoot the shit with the Sunday guard, he didn't care about me photographing the grounds, just said the classic "Don't let me see you go inside".

Nowadays there's almost never anybody around. If the front gate is closed then odds are you won't have any company to worry about. It's surprisingly lax for being federal property.

We didn't need a story. We didn't need a real world. We just had to keep walking. And we became the stories, we became the places. We were the lights, the deserts, the faraway worlds. We were you before you even existed.

Baaaaw... lame.

You should go back and explore the outer buildings. The houses up and down the main road are fun spots to hang out.
