Thanksgiving for most is a day of lots of turkey and family. for my friend and i it was a day of exploration!

This "charming" little home is local, making it that much more fun!

We entered the front door, which was easy to do, someone had apparently broke in and unlocked it for us, or it was just never really locked at all. in the front sunroom there was an old file cabinet with files that had floor plans and such for various families and their homes. under a microwave there were tones of old floor plans and up against a wall was a certificate given to Tannery Creek Development Corporation. I tried looking them up on google, but the last date on the certificate was from the mid 80's so i don't think the company is around anymore.

we couldn't enter the living room from the front since as you see, the entire livingroom floor was missing, and there was a pile of debris to the right. I'm guessing this was to prevent people from getting to the stairs leading to the second floor....that is everyone but me!

We proceeded in through the side door where we entered in to a little hallway that had a bathroom (with a toilet filled with brown gross whatever in it) to the immediate right, the kitchen to the immediate left, and a small room straight ahead that had a doorway that led to a sunroom of sorts.

we went through the kitchen and out on to what little floor there was left and saw the stairs to the basement at our right, and peaked around the wall at our left to see another small room and then a bright and clean bathroom that was attached to the living room.

then we got all ninja-ey and made our way across the floor beams and went up the really small stairs to the second floor. we couldn't do much exploring up there as they had lifted up alot of the flooring i guess to prevent squatters and teens from messin around up there.

seeing as it was between 2 active houses really close, and a busy street, we decided to leave the garage alone.1.

ok i did some minor sleuthing and here is what i found...

Google-ing for Tannery Creek Development Corporation brought up nothing.

I then searched for Toronto Home Builders Association, and at some point this association and another merged to become BILD (Building Industry and Land Development), where i searched for Tannery Creek Development Corporation with no results.

I'm not surprised seeing as the last seal was from 1989, and since THBA was merged at some point, i'm figuring they didn't really upload any old members that haven't been active in a while.

Update....

Turns out the original owner of this house is an a*hole

this house is on Aurora's heritage list, meaning they can't just tear it down and build something new. So instead of trying to maintain this house, the owner has decided to just let it rot probably until it become deemed unsafe, and he has an excuse to tear it down.

A friend of mine works for a museum in one of the municipalities of York, and with advice from my mom, who used to be the chair for the Aurora LACAC committee, we are going to either call or send in a letter letting them know the state of this house and see what can be done.

Alot of the houses on the list havn't been visited in a while, so i'm pretty sure the town has no idea what is going on with one of their historical homes.

Where on Wellington is this house located?

Also - have you been to the two houses @ Wellington & 404?

There's currently someone squatting in the larger of the two houses there. Just a forewarning.

this one is located closer to bathurst, on the west side of Aurora High.

as for the other two houses, my friend and i shy away from overly active areas, we try our best to avoid a criminal record lol!

Urbexer ladies are 4 to 1 in York. It`s the lack of Asbestos...

Squatters in the 404 ones...well, they`ll get a wake up call in the a.m.
