My first few exploits....

I've lurked around here for a while and decided I'd post some of the pictures I've taken. I have no background in photography at all except for a photo class in high school and reading my SLR's manual haha. Any feedback would be appreciated.

First, two from Matthiessen State park, not quite UER stuff but I liked the way they turned out. The next two are from an abandoned "toy factory" but in researching it I haven't found any information indicating it ever produced toys.

The rest are from an abandoned paint factory that I just went to last week. The floor has some holes in it, and I ran into some squatters who warned me that they live on the top floor of the northwest corner of the building (to those who know where this is) and recommended that I stay out of there since they have a dog. In the second picture there is a squatter leaving the premises who I never noticed inside, so the place has a few people living in it. When I left the premises (it is by a busy street) I popped out to meet a few people standing next to their parked cars. I realized later when I drove by in my car to go home and saw a cop parked there as well, they must have gotten into a minor car accident. I was pretty lucky to get out of there just before the cops showed up.

very nice set. not bad for someone without any background in photography. i'm sure more avid photographers could nitpick, but i'm not picky. =]

Thanks you very much for your kind words relik and Canadaboy.

Looks like the Toastmaster building, aka the "Algonquin Toy Factory" is no longer around. Shame. Why anyone would want to burn a place like that down, especially close to a school, I have no idea.

Make sure to hit locations you know about sooner rather than later otherwise you may never get a chance at all.

that, is ridiculous. ugh. not that i would ever explore there (due to distance factors), but just the thought that people are so damn destructive, just for fun, is pathetic.
at least you got a look before it turned to burnt rubble.
