Question, and this might be a noob-ism, but has anyone had any luck with Fort Carroll in MD?

I've thought about it, but it looks terribly overgrown, and pretty tricky to get to in a ninja-like creepy way.

Tips, info, and insults would be very helpful. Thanks.

from what i gathered, take a machete for the growth, some rope so you can climb in and be fast since the coast guard patrols the water

Damnit... I thought someone would say that. Maybe I bring a bay-colored tarp to go over the boat when we get out.

Cost Benefit though; I'm not seeing much of a payoff there... especially since I'd have to use the boat slip at Fort Armistead. No chance in hell I'm going in there.

I want to do it one day, not so much to see it, I think it will be underwhelming, but I think the exercise in infiltration would be top notch. especially if done in the day. lol

Agreed.

(Plus I try to keep to the rule that I have to see the layout during the day before I even attempt it at night. You might be stumbling around in the dark and catch one of those Henryton craters in the floor and drop a dozen feet.)

Obviously the boat would be covered while inside, but what would be your flavor, the faded green color tarp to match the color of the water, or a ghille suit kind of wrap for the boat to make it look like more growth at the place?

i'd probably be really ghetto about it and spray paint the beast, of course i'd probably use an inflatable kayak and if possible attach a rope and pull it up with me once i got up top and just hide it inside. If I were using a small craft though, I would probably just cover it with a tarp though im sure there is a spot or two where the coast guard wouldn't see too well and try to tuck it in there.

i am gonna talk to my fatboy about this - i say we hit the place in daylight and just start taking pictures, if the coast guard comes they come, we aren't terrorists, looter, vandals, or any of that shit so its more trouble than its worth to arrest us.

... besides i don't need to out run the coast guard i just gotta out run you.

Ah the explorer's mantra: I don't need to be the fastest runner... I just need to be faster than the slowest runner.

Forgot about the inflatables... sonny's probably has a camo one; I'd hate to use one of those bright orange ones to get over there. That's got failsauce all over it.

Use one man watercraft, inflatables, ocean kayaks, whatever.

Bring a hook, rope, long blade and grippy boots.

Launch from Armstead.

Don't look back.

Plenty at Armistead from what I hear. I also have heard that it's not a good idea to go exploring there... so I don't plan to visit Armistead so much as go through it to go to Carroll.

Armstead isn't so bad. During the day it gets trolled by craigslist hardons, sure, but at night it's mostly populated by fisherman. Was just there last night with Lansiar, the whole place is just littered with people brandishing fishing poles. Police frequent the place pretty regularly anymore, but they don't do much aside from sit around and watch the show. In all honesty, you'd be fine there so long as you kept by the pier at night.

I'm always down. Armstead/Howard/Carrol are literally in my back yard. Hop skip and a jump and I'm there. Don't have a boat handy to reach Carrol, but Armstead and Howard are easy access, interesting enough places (mostly for the rather slick tags) and there is a bit of an easter egg surprise to Fort Howard that I think you guys would love to pay a visit. ;)
