| | | ... and mine sucks.
There's an old bread factory about 2 blocks from my house that I've been meaning to explore for years. Here's what the front looks like: 1.
... and here's what the interior looks like as of last week: 2.
Goddamit!! I really dropped the ball on this one. There's still a few buildings left but it's pretty much your typical abandoned factory. I'll throw a few pics into a gallery just so the trip wasn't a complete waste.
While I was wandering around the upper floor I saw a group of six people heading across the earthworks towards the factory with beers in hand and realised I was about to have some exploring company. It turns out that two of them were old buddies of mine who I hadn't seen in years, and one of them was living adjacent to the factory site. Small world! 3.
I also found a razor scooter that someone had dumped inside the factory. 4.
Oh you better believe I was going faster than 5 mph. If there's an envelope I'm pushing it, baby.

| | | I feel your pain. There are enough abandonments I've narrowly missed over here to fill a medium-sized country.

| | | There was a group of apartment buildings not that far away from that other site which had been built about 8 years ago but never occupied because the ground was contaminated. Whoops, looks like the developers fucked up there. Been meaning to check them out for a while, here's what happened to them a few weeks ago:
They weren't just demolished, they were purged. Missed out again.

| | | Know the feeling too..Can not prevent it from happening, but sometimes I blamed myself for being to 'slow'. Key is to go as soon as possible when you find something..

| | | I think every one of us has felt this pain on more than one occasion. I know of one particular place I had looked at for months. Then one day I drove by I saw all sorts of machinery and lab equipment sitting out in the parking lot with a sign that says "Factory Sale". Up until the day before, everything was still in its place on the factory floor and office area. Judging by the looks of the material for sale, it was a much cooler place inside than outside. Too bad I missed it. In just over 24hrs it was transformed to an empty shell - and consequently locked up tight - under new ownership I presume. I learned that if at all possible, jump on opportunities as they present themselves. I have missed a number of things out of sheer laziness.
