jurassic valley mini golf !!

after the let down at the fox inn the other day, my brother and i boggled our minds to where else we could check out, but nothing really came to mind. then all of a sudden i remembered at one point, a couple years ago, passing a closed down miniature golf course a little while from where a live. i remembered there being giant dinosaurs, just hanging out and watching the weeds grow as time passed. we figured "what the heck?", and took off towards where i remembered it being.

it ended up being pretty easy to find seeing as how it is rather abnormal for there to be giant dinosaurs just hanging around. well fake ones, obviously.

if i remember correctly, the sign to the place read "closed for the season", although it's been closed for years. i'm not sure what their plans are for the place; most likely just selling it.
the main building was nothing special, so we didn't bother wasting time photographing it. the dinos were pretty neat though.

the cloudy weather kind of sucked for photos, but we made do.
enjoy.

I really laughed my ass off at the coming and going 3rd and 4th pic.
No idea why.
Felt bad for #5
Just in a weird mood I guess.

None the less, pretty cool little set. I like it.

Thanks for sharing

haha. i didn't even think about it when i chose the order, just placing them next to one another.
wasn't much to see there honestly. it's pretty hard finding amazing/better places, when there isn't much around these parts. haha. having my car in the shop doesn't help either. so basically, i'm willing to travel as far as my few friends that are actually into this sort of thing are. =]

well, i believe it was still under the name 'golf central', until it closed, that is. the miniature golf portion was just called 'jurassic valley'.

i love the abandoned minigolf courses. if anyone's up in the dells, next to "paul bunyan's" restaurant there is an abandoned minigolf course with easy access. would've went but had our 2-year-old in tow.

I wish to complain about this Triceratops what I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique....

If anyone in Victoria Australia wants to check out some abandoned fibreglass dinos then here's a handy lead:

(i know asking this is a no no, but it's not like i'm forcing you to share.)

in its early days - after moving from the old mall downtown oshkosh - golf central was just a bar, driving range, and golf simulators ... the kept expanding, putting in chuck-e-cheese type shit, moving away from the adult establishment, finally culminating in the addition of the damn mini-golf ... that hastened the decline and closure ///

You know what, SO many places up in the dells area are closed now. I think the shitty tourism, recession and Lake Delevan draining did their toll on the local economy. I dont live up there, but there were lots of empty attractions, right on the strip.

i used to go every year and stay at a different resort, when i was younger. i haven't been back in years though. i imagine there are a few places that have been left to rot. perhaps i'll just take a trip there and look around.
