I'm planning on going to Detroit a week from today for some exploring; I don't want or need locations, just doing the overdone, wide open ones (after all it is Detroit, there's so much to see there and I'll only be there one day), if any explorers want to meet up with me reply here or PM between now and Friday night.

just don't go to packard, even for exterior shots.

the assfaces guarding the transformers set are getting a little aggressive.

send me a message and i'll give you some decent locations and advice.

yeah.
they've got a train coming out of the second story and the area is surrounded by decepticons(!)

the guards have been known to threaten photographers, even those taking exterior shots, with firearms and completely ignore everything anybody ever tries to say about copyright law.

Detroit is NOT the city where those rent a cops should be threatening anyone w/ a firearms since the chances are 50/50 the other person is packing as well

Why do they need security at Packard if they have Decepticons?

Also, why in the hell is there only one location in the Detroit gallery on here?

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

*cough*

Erm. Yeah. About that.

That whole "going with other people in your area" rule counts me out...
Also, the fact that I've been on here 1 whole fucking month.

And why does nobody add anything to it? Because everyone wants to keep teh noobs and taggers away from "their" locations! It's mine, ahhhhll mine!!! Says the greedy UE'r.

I think its more laziness than anything. A lot of people who don't add to the DB will give out info when asked. The database is too impersonal in my opinion.

But that whole discussion doesn't interest me much since most of the stuff I like to explore are inherently temporary or are extremely easy to find.

Mostly laziness, and there's a bit of some form of "I like this place and don't want fuckups fucking it up."

I plan to head back to detroit at some point soon, its been almost a year now. Last year the book depository was massively boarded up, probably due to the death in the basement. Anyone know if it has been pried into again?

Or they noticed that tagging and vandalism increases after DB entries go up. Or maybe that's just a Minneapolis phenomenon.

Also, based on your pics, the things you like to explore would cause most of us a high degree of shitpants.

UE location database...?

i thought this was supposed to be an exploration forum, not a tourism bureau.

A lot of people don't seem to get that the Urban Exploration Resources most valuable to you are the explorers. Meet people and go do stuff. Research things on the internet to find 'em and go see what's there. It's ok to be surprised, just be able to handle surprises. Etc.

Was at the Packard yesterday. Will second the notion that the place was secured. The southern section was open for sure, but the north section was heavily boarded. Security guard did not bother me, but dont think he noticed me in the building.
