| | The floor in henryton < on 9/10/2010 8:19 PM >
| | | Apperantly it's the most popular location in MD or something, so I figure some of you have been there before. There's this like two yard wide hole in the floor in the southeast corner, first floor, of the main building, and it got my questioning all the floors there... but then there was evidence of kids paintballing/airsofting in there and I don't know what to think about the trustworthiness of it. ...I should carry a camera around more often. meh.

| | | Care to recommend? :P **bitches loudly about this site's restriction on access about location** well... I'd probably find more shit myself if I had transportation other than a bike. Besides, I want to go there with a group of good friends, not just with my biking friend. xD Greatest means of access ever:

| | | Floors can be tricky. I usually try to be more safe than sorry. A good rule of thumb, though, is to look at the ceiling above the floor. Floors most often give out by rotting - due to water from a leaky roof. If all the plaster has fallen down, or there are water rings, or if you can see the sky, wood floors in that area are probably going to be sketchy. If the ceiling plaster looks intact, then you're likely good. There are some exceptions to this rule, though: Floors can rot from below if the basement is flooded, if there are termites, or sometimes just for fun. I've even heard of reinforced concrete just deciding to give way. As always, keep your wits about you, be observant, and realize that's a risk you encounter in this hobby.

henryton != skills. most rooftops are more difficult than waltzing into an abandoned complex. xD I should probably have bothered to get a respirator, but w/e, I'm not dead yet I'm not really a photographer, but I enjoy getting places other people can't, and being able to see things they don't... (first pic is most difficult place to reach in henryton that I could find...)

| | | Aiee, figures. The school complex in this area has similarly questionable flooring. Mostly bad stairs. Thanks for the heads up, though. Henryton was supposed to be on my agenda for this weekend simply cause I haven't been there before but I'm picky about my lighting and goddamnit, cloudy days on my 2 free days for urbex. :c Maybe the next time I aim to swing up I'll bug ya. I have a spare film camera you can use if need be. Fuck doing places like that solo, I don't want to go breaking my leg falling through a swollen floorspace and have to bleed to death. -.- EDIT: Oh, and get a goddamn respirator. It's not worth the suck week that follows breathing white mold for 6 hours. x.x [last edit 9/13/2010 12:40 AM by SeikoLiz - edited 1 times]
