Pa. city shames owners of blighted property on Web

READING, Pa. — Property owners neglecting their homes in one eastern Pennsylvania city are getting an online shaming.

Reading (RED-ing') Mayor Tom McMahon on Monday announced a new online "Wall of Shame" featuring blighted properties.

McMahon says the property owners' names will be posted along with pictures and addresses. He says he's serving notice to property owners who fail to take action on eyesore properties.

Ten properties are already facing designation as blighted, which could lead to them being torn down. Fifty other properties are listed on the site, and McMahon says they're being targeted for blighted status by the city.

Did you e-mail the mayor and offer to take all the pictures?

I think we need to shame politicians and other bureaucratic public officials (lawyers, judges, and cops come to mind) by compiling a list of;

Home Phone Numbers
Cell Phone Numbers
Work Phone Numbers
Home addresses
Work addresses
School addresses

For:
Them. Their Significant Others, Their Siblings, Their Children, Their Parents.

And let loose.

"Give contact your senator" a whole new meaning.

"No risk, no reward, no fun."
"Go all the way or walk away"
escensi omnis...

One time Paranoid and Descending took me to Reading. We just drove around and ended up finding at least five abandonments on top of the five I had already seen on google maps...

its a pretty ripe little town.

This is going to hinder more than help... vandals aren't going to help the owners renovate any more quickly. This is a pretty stupid idea. But still good for us. Hopefully everything doesn't get ruined by the time i get up to reading.
