I'm going through my flickr and posting some locations that I haven't put up on UER yet. I know some of you are contacts on Flickr, and many more of you have visited my Flickr, so you may have seen these before. Anyway, just thought I would share

Sandy Hook is full of gun batteries that were poised to defend NYC in the event of a naval invasion. They're spread out all over the island, and range from minuscule pillboxes to robust fortresses with subterranean magazines and gun pits which once housed huge naval-defense guns. Nike missile sites can be found on the island, along with the former ordnance testing rage of the U.S. military.

Take note that the island is a National Park, and trespassing on the forts is a federal offense.

These are all from last summer, sorry about the lack of exteriors. These are all from one gun battery anyway. The sheer size of some of the fortresses is pretty incredible. I plan on going back sometime.
