My first "official" exploration...YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well everyone...I did it, and I'm hooked for sure. Two friends of mine and yours truly hit the Snoqualmie train tunnel (I think it was built in 1812!!!) for our first forray into the seething underbelly of intentional criminal trespass. We chose this locale for a number of reasons:

1. low chance of encountering fuzz.

2. easy access (both getting there and getting in).

3. the ability to bring my buddys ultra sweet and ultra expensive...(i.e. his
35# tripod was $1200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) camera and gear, since there wasn't
any climbing or running involved.

Here's the pix...any questions I should answer? this is my first upload so bear with me ok? ...Ok.1.

Also, I think 7 is my favourite because you get the most detail on the tunnel walls.

Notice there are no wooden instruments around to destroy with said tea lights.

Road flares are kind of distinctive with that hellish aura of pure red. I have something in mind that'll do the same by battery power, if I can get it wired. Anyway, go here and join the Fire & Pyrotechnics board - I'm trying to get together such techniques for lighting. Hmm, it'd be fun to use a flash to make the subject blue with hellglow all around...

While the respirator might have been unnecessary, +1 for your enthusiasm. Good job.

lol!!!

maybe im a poser but the respirator serves 2 purposes for me.

1. it covers my face which seems like a good idea, as it might afford the SLIGHTEST amount of protection from prosecution considering im intentionally posting pictures of myself blatantly committing a crime on the internet.

2. i think it looks cool.

as robust, resilient and amazing as the human respiratory system is... id be willing to bet that 90% of the pix containing someone wearing a respirator on this website are for the same reasons. theres just not that many places or substances in the world where you really NEED a $20 rubber mask from home depot in order to breathe safely.

but thanks for trying to ridicule me after i (sort of) complimented one of your photos...

im gonna go put on my respirator right now so i can look at some of your other photographs without becoming overwhelmed by the poop smell!

cheers

Dig the road flare effect, I've never seen it before. I'll bet the sulfur smell and smoke gets old very fast.........sure looks cool though.

You can see a million miles tonite, but you can't get very far.

thanks cr,

the tunnel had a VERY significant draft running from one end to the other so we just took the pix upwind and the tunnel took care of the sulfur, smoke etc. of course we didnt compose the shot upwind when we first ignited the flares which only last 3-4 minutes!!!!! there was some scurrying involved to reverse our whole setup b4 the flares ran out and the pix u see were taken JUST b4 the flares fizzled out! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Actually, most people who wear respirators exploring wear them because of dust, pigeon poop, mold and to avoid building up long term exposure to asbestos. I very rarely feel the need to wear them myself.
