This is one of my favorite sets of images that I've seen from this place so far! Very nice set! Makes me want to go play there even more.

Wow, thanks a lot! I've seen some great photos come out of this place.
We plan on going back soon to get the other side we missed and I'll definitely share those with you guys as well

Wonderful 'splore and great results. I like the one with the drooping ceiling fan the best. If I could go to an abandoned amusement park I may have some kind of epiphany; if an abandoned video arcade, something better.

You betcha

Thanks!
Those drooping fans have become somewhat of common sight around here since Katrina.
And actually the picture you like...that area used to be an arcade. But they gutted all the games out since then.

That looks like it was a lot of fun. Definitely has to be one of the more interesting places to explore. As someone pointed out, its current existence carries a heavy dissonance from its former exuberant life.

Wish I would have had a chance to explore Six Flags Astroworld here in Houston before they took everything down. Now it's just a huge field of grass that is used as a parking lot for the rodeo one month out of the year.

Great pics! They were a joy to look at.

Wow! I, too, am jealous! Me thinks I need to make a trip down there and explore. I've always wanted to go to New Orleans anyway.

Great photos!

I agree DWTC. Astroworld would have been a nice one. They crammed a lot into that little space.

Thanks everyone! Come on down, Pixel. There's tons to explore over here, haha.

And to AntiParadigm, I never got a chance to go to Astroworld when it was around. The New Orleans Six Flags is actually relatively small.

Thanks everyone!
This past weekend we went back to get the other side of Six Flags that we missed the first time. We still haven't covered the whole park but the heat index was 110 and after an hour or two of walking around, the heat became unbearable. But we got to cover the main entrance and some other areas that I was stoked about so here's some of the shots!

Somebody hung the Skycoaster guy with a fire hose, ha.

Hey look! It's me getting insanely sunburned!

How those napkins have stayed in place despite all that's happened around them over the past 5 years is completely beyond me.

Mmm, nachos.

Topless woman ;)

water line WELL over 48"

Blue dragonfly (or Mosquito Hawk in New Orleans-speak) on a phone cord.

Umbrella bearing the former name of Six Flags New Orleans

Almost got attacked by a million bees getting this one.

Saddest damn puppy I've ever seen.

Despite all the destruction and lifeless rides in the park, these little wildflowers were very much alive. And in Mardi Gras colors, nonetheless! :]
Gives a New Orleans girl hope.

It's just a bit spooky seeing all those rides with no one in line. No kids screaming as they zoom past you at 100mph. Very much an apocalyptic feeling.

Thanks, cdevon! It was beyond hot.

And @oldman, you should have tried walking around in there, haha. VERY apocalyptic and eerie.
